When Emma and Debby saw piles of superior vital energy crystals in their Space Rings, they were immensely thrilled.
It felt extremely unreal to them -- as if what was happening were nothing more than a really good dream. With that, they were just
over the moon with happiness.
It took quite a while for them to finally get down from the feeling of ecstasy.
And when they did, they both looked at Austin with great admiration and gratefulness.
They were well aware that the only reason they were able to acquire those superior vital energy crystals was because Austin was
there with them.
If they had walked the Barren Mountain without Austin's company, they would have been torn to pieces by the demonic dogs
guarding the place within half a day. Even more than that, there was no way they could have discovered the treasures without
Austin's help.
After a day of travelling, they reached another part of the Barren Mountain.
"I never would have imagined that such a vast and broad sand dune area like this would exist in this Barren Mountain,"
Austin exclaimed as he gazed at the scenery before them.
In front of them, the rocky, dark brown terrain that was covered by grit and pebbles was gone. Instead, it was replaced by a
boundless sand dune desert.
All of the topographies in their line of sight, such as the plains, mountains, and hills were all covered by a layer of black sand that
was as thick as a dozen yards in sareas.
It was, in all aspects, a desert region.
"The topography of this Barren Mountain is very complicated.
It would be very likely for us to encounter just about any form of topography once we set foot on the boundary of this Barren
Mountain.
What's more, it is said that its space and ground are completely unstable, and its location is not fixed. Thus, it will most probably
shift and move from tto time.
For example, one particular location might be a black desert during your first visit, and then turn into a thriving oasis in your next,"
Emma said as she turned to Austin.
"That's true. I've heard of that before."
Austin nodded in agreement. He, himself, had sknowledge about the Barren Mountain because he dug around for some
information before they went there.

"It's tto go,"
Austin said as he took the lead in flying over the dune desert region.
After a while, they found themselves in the middle of an endless black dune.
As Austin watched the black sandy desert surrounding them, he could not help but feel amazed.
They just found it completely unbelievable that such a topography could be found in a mountain range.
They flew around for about half an hour.
All of a sudden, they spotted several white lights glimmering amidst the boundless black sandy desert in front of them in spite of
being under a gloomy sky.
'What are those glimmering things?"
Austin thought, with a puzzled expression on his face.
Austin immediately used his spiritual sense to get a better look at the area.
Upon using his spiritual sense, Austin found that the white glimmers were actually human skeletons that had been covered by the
black sand. The reason why they could see them from so far was because there were so many of them that they were so densely
distributed.
Naturally, Austin could not help but wonder why so many people had died in that sandy dune region.
As Austin continued flying over the region, he could not help but frown at the sight of the scattered skeletons.
After a while, it dawned on him that there must have been huge danger lurking under the seemingly calm black dune desert
region.
"Be careful, everybody.
| have a feeling that this black desert is very dangerous,"
Austin said to his companions.
But they did not need Austin's reminder. Even they could feel how dangerous the place was.
Still, they continued to move forward.
Another half a day went by.
Still above the boundless black dune, they continued flying with Austin in the lead.
All of a sudden, Austin felt an imminent sense of danger.
Without missing a beat, he hurriedly launched his spiritual sense to get grip of the situation on the ground.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! !
Scores of black threats shot out from the black sand so quickly that only faint blurred shadows were felt by Austin's spiritual sense,
leaving Austin in awe of their speed.
"Be careful! Avoid those things at all costs!"
Austin called out in a rush.
He took out his Lightning Sword at once and gripped it with his hands. Scores of the lightning sword aura were brandished towards
the black sand with the immense momentum of the lightning and thunder.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As the attack hit the ground, the sand splashed all over as if it were water.
Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank!
All of a sudden, Austin heard the clashing of two metals.
Austin could not believe it! Apparently, his sword aura attacks were being fended off by the black threads.
Then, to his surprise, Austin detected through his spiritual sense a sharp hook that was merely several inches in length on the tip
of the black threads. More than that, the black hooks were also diffusing a disgusting blood-like smell.
After a while, Austin realized that the hook resembled a scorpion tail.
Before long, they found themselves astonished by the scene happening below them.
Suddenly, sand bumps abruptly popped up from the black sand desert. After a while, the sand bumps started moving swiftly.
Then, the sand bumps advanced towards the land beneath where Austin and his companions stood with immense momentum.
Upon watching the moving bumps for a while, Austin understood that they were all about to be in grave danger.
Austin knew that whatever creatures were lurking under the sand bumps must have been very powerful since they were moving at
such a terrifying speed and even had the ability to fend off his sword Aura.
"Everybody, cover to my side, now!"
Austin shouted in a hurry.
In the meantime, he took out his Lightning Sword once again and sent another surge of sword aura towards the fast moving sand

At once, a streak of the black thread flashed among the sand bumps with a breakneck speed and fended off the streaks of
lightning sword aura. It was so fast that the only thing Austin and his companions could see was a black shadow.
Meanwhile, Emma, Debby, Violet and the gndid as instructed and moved closer to Austin's side.
The moment they approached him, Austin immediately transferred all of them into the City.
Now, without having to worry about their safety while fighting the strange sand bumps, Austin was finally able to relieve a little bit.
Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!
All of a sudden, the black sand bumps underneath Austin all exploded abruptly. Then, out of it ca dozen tawny demonic beasts
that immediately smashed the shells around them and leaped up in full speed to attack Austin.
Austin hurriedly activated his Thunderbolt Movement Skill and started moving like a whirlwind. From several hundred yards away,
he quickly ducked and dodged the attack from the demonic beasts.
The demonic beasts had attacked Austin in vain.
"What terrifying speed! | almost got hit by their attack,"
Austin sighed with a mixture of fear and relief.
After getting a closer look, Austin recognized the demonic beasts as tawny scorpions.
Each scorpion had a body that was almost the size of a basketball court with a tail that was about 5 yards long.
On the tip of their tails were one raven crescent hook that kept swinging in the sky and reeked of blood. It was immediately
obvious that the black hook was immensely poisonous.
However, what confused Austin the most were the scorpions’ heads which were all made of human skulls.
Suddenly, two green lights appeared and glimmered from the eye sockets of the skulls.
Skull Scorpion!
Austin was immediately startled. Never in his wildest dreams did he expect that he would stumble upon the legendary Skull
Scorpion in that place.
Upon quickly getting over his shock, Austin remembered another hearsay about the Skull Scorpion.
According to legends, the Skull Scorpion was actually the miser or the treasure guardian of the desert!
Thus, it was highly possible that treasures could be found wherever the Skull Scorpions were.
And since there were a dozen Skull Scorpions in that area, then that would mean that there were streasures hidden there.
After coming to that realization, Austin's mind immediately started planning and calculating.
