Chapter 1685
Theo stared atafter | hung up the phone. "Why aren't you going?"
"Why should | go when you're not going?"
| blinked my eyes slowly as | gazed at him. He was a man who meant what he said.
| could tell he was angry over what had happened, but | could understand why too.
However, it was odd that not only had he not lost his temper, but he even toldto have dinner with them.
"But what's going to happen to Munchkin if you don't go?"
“Don't worry, Fred will take care of him. He won't unleash his grudge on a kid," | said comfortingly to Theo.
| did not press him for answers and decided to wait for him to feel better before he toldwhat he was worried
about.
He leaned against the headboard and did not say anything for a long time. He chose to holdquietly instead.
Yet, that madefeel more uneasy.
"| actually cin here just now to tell you | might only be able to drive you over to pick Munchkin up later. So |
thought you might as well head off earlier since they invited you to have dinner together."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"How could that work?” | asked as | sat up straight, feeling upset with him.
Then, | recalled what | had just said. "See? Both Munchkin and | knew you would need to work late. He even
remindedto make sure you had a proper meal. So don't even think of trying to brush
"No negotiations allowed!"
Finally, he could no longer hold his laughter in as he tookinto his arms again. "This explains a lot."
"What does it explain?" | did not understand what he was trying to say.
"You're so cute. It's no wonder there are so many people hung up about you."
| scoffed. "Isn't that the sfor you? At this point, I'm constantly worried that someone's going to dash at you."
"Well, no one asked you to go to Cindy Reed."
Theo brought another topic up.
"Cindy's different. She's different from the others!" | said stubbornly as | stood up.
Theo could not argue against that and did not insist on doing so.
"Also, lendyour computer."
"What are you going to do?"
"I need to check something."
Theo becupset when he heard that." Didn't we agree that you wouldn't work now? What do you need to
check?"
"Gosh, that's none of your business. I'll just use it for a while."
Theo narrowed his eyes. "So, you're going to work?"
I initially thought Theo would agree if | took a softer approach. | was not expecting him to notice | had not refuted
him and instead sensed that | was going to work. "Well, | already went to the office today. Wouldn't | only have
gone to fool around if | didn't take swork back with me? Don't worry, | promise I'll be done really soon."
I whined like a child.
Theo got up reluctantly as he said, "I remember Munchkin telling you to make sure | had a proper dinner. How
did you end up working late with me..."
Seeing his reluctance, | crossed my arms and said, "Alright then, let's head htogether. Neither of us will get
to work anymore. I'll get the servants to prepare dinner for us!"
Sure enough, that trick worked.
Theo fell silent the minute | finished speaking. He picked up the shoes placed next to my bed and said in a voice
that was equal parts loving and impatient, "Alright, fine. Get over here.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe helpedput my shoes on before also helpingget to my feet.
| rarely paid attention to my stomach, but my movements just now maderealize that my belly had grown yet
another size larger. | had not noticed anything the past few days, but Theo had already noticed that | now
needed someone to helpto my feet.
While marveling at Theo's care, | also marveled at how quickly the baby was growing.
| rubbed my stomach gently. If that was the case, it seemed like a good idea to introduce him to a healthy dose
of work tension.
| took the laptop Theo handed toand sat down on the couch. The coffee table was about the sheight as
the couch, which meant | would need to lean forward to work on the laptop.
A displeased look immediately appeared on Theo's face, and he insisted | worked at his desk instead.
| refused to do that because | knew he was used to working at his table. Besides, he was taller than | was, so
wouldn't he find working while sitting on the couch even more difficult?

In the end, he had no other choice but to get Keith to findanother table to use.
