Chapter 4045
"Honorable Master!"
Grunt began to panic when things took a turn for the worse. He turned toward Master Magaera and said, "We
can't fight anymore! Please, let's retreat."
Staying any longer was a one-way ticket to death.
Master Magaera did not respond, his face darkening even further.
F*ck, they had been a step too late. Magaera had intended to put a damper on Archfiend Antigonus' plans with a
few hundred thousand men. However, he still succeeded in reviving the fiends.
"Retreat!"
Master Magaera was regretful when he called out the order a few seconds later, "Retreat from the Sealed Fiend
Mountain at full speed."
Master Magaera was livid with indignance. He was the second most powerful person in the Godly Region, for
crying out loud! He had won countless battles and built a reputable name for himself. Yet he had wound up in
such a sorry state, being ambushed to the point of having to retreat.
However, there was nothing they could do. There was no way any of them could get out alive if they stayed any
longer.
A retreat would give them a last shot at survival.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAt Master Magaera's orders, the soldiers did not hesitate a second longer. One by one, they stopped fighting
back, turning to escape.
Archfiend Antigonus let out a raucous peal of laughter toward the heavens, his eyes
flashing with crazed malice. "Don't let a single one of them get away, my warriors. Seize
them!"
The fiends howled in acknowledgment as if they had lost all their sanity. They charged
toward the retreating soldiers with renewed enthusiasm.
Over at the dense forest not far from the Sealed Fiend Mountain.
Mona and 20 other subordinates were making their way forward at a glacial pace. Darryl
was severely injured, and that slowed them down a great deal.
"Can we move any slower?"
Mona turned back to glare at Darryl as she continued complaining. "I really don't know
what Lia was thinking, insisting on protecting that fake."
"Look at the pace we're going! He's a deadweight. We're never going to make it back like
this!"
Her words were filled with condescension.
Mona did not have a loud voice. However, Darryl could hear her clear enough, all the way
from the back of the crowd. He merely smiled, not putting too much thought into it.
He understood that anyone in a situation like that would have found it impossible to
remain calm.
Just then, a series of howls could be heard from behind. They were followed by countless
figures, rapidly approaching them.
The figures were tall and broad; they were clad in blood-red helmets.
There were hundreds of them. They were the fiends that Archfiend Antigonus had brought
back to life.
Upon Magaera's call to retreat, the soldiers had taken off in various directions. Some of
them had escaped into a nearby forest nearby, and a few hundred fiends were hot on their
heels.
The forest was thick and dense, and the fiends soon lost the soldiers. Instead, they ran
into Darryl and the rest.
Crap...
Everyone's expressions, including Mona, Darryl, and the Demon Warriors, shifted.
"Those... those are fiends..."
"We're screwed. There are too many of them. We're no match for them."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"God, we should have moved faster. Could've gotten out of here a whole lot sooner!"
The numerous subordinates muttered anxiously among themselves. They looked at Darryl
from time to time, resentment ringing in their chests.
"Miss!'
A subordinate managed to come to his senses, calling out to Mona. "What do we do now? The fiends are nigh
impossible opponents."
Mona was too young and inexperienced to think of a plan, she panicked.
"Don't worry. You've got me."
Darryl smiled and said, "Just follow my orders. I—"
Darryl was confident about the situation. They were in a dense forest, surrounded by nature. That was the
perfect place to cast formations. Yet he had not been able to finish his sentence before Mona had cut him off
coolly.
"Shut up," Mona roared, she pointed at Darryl. "This is all your fault. If you didn't hold us back, the fiends would
never have caught up to us."
They would have returned to their territory had it not been for the b*stard.
A few subordinates barked out in agreement as well.
"Exactly. The guy is a burden and a bringer of misfortune." 1
"Let's kill him, Miss. If he's dead, we won't have to lug him along with us, and we'll be able to lose the fiends."
Among the complaints were a few voices suggesting to get rid of Darryl.
Mona did not hesitate. She clutched her dagger, moving to drive it through Darryl's chest.
