Chapter 340: The Lu Clan’s Ancestral Worship Ceremony

“A good number of them have their own agenda, and the people are far from united. Hell, many are just outright spies from other cultivation forces! All of them even wanted to seize command of the place when you were not around. If it hadn’t been for your mom here looking after the place waiting for you to come home, you wouldn’t even have a Heavenly Palace to come back to.”

Liu Wanrong glared at Lu Xuan and said.

“What are you doing just leaving those people be and doing nothing about them?”

Liu Wanrong grumbled. There were only two things that she had been busy with while he was away. The first was her focusing on her own cultivation. The other was weeding out all the undesirables from the place.

All those lurking menaces in the Heavenly Palace were finally cleaned out after going about it for quite some time.

Then again, those people were all basically taken out by good old fashion violence given that none of them would have just left the Heavenly Palace unconditionally.

Liu Wanrong lacked her son’s magnanimity. She deemed it of the utmost importance to deal with everyone who threatened her son’s undertaking.

“No matter. Just some clowns who would achieve nothing after all,” Lu Xuan commented casually.

“If they wanted to seize the Heavenly Palace’s command, I’d say let them have it. Besides, they can’t do anything with the place while I’m still around.”

Liu Wanrong glanced at her son and understood what he was thinking about at that moment.

Lu Xuan’s level was so high that he saw those people as being beneath his concern. All the schemes and conspiracies those people could come up with were nothing but jokes to him.

He also probably even harbored thoughts about letting such jokes play out, seeing how many would eventually come at him only to be killed right away.

The death of the president by his hands just a day ago served as a declaration to the world: before absolute and undeniable power, no amount of schemes and conspiracies could amount to more than mere jokes.

All that exercise was just pointless.

“Even so, those people were an eyesore,” Liu Wanrong added.

“People with great ambitions aren’t gonna fret about petty stuff, but you’d still need to be wary about them pouncing on you.” historical

Lu Xuan sighed and continued, “I initially thought of keeping those people around so to have them help me with widespread propagation of cultivation among the people. I didn’t actually care about the agendas they were cooking up. Oh well, whatever. If you’ve already cleaned those people up for me, then let’s just leave it at that.”

With a serious expression, Liu Wanrong said to her son, “And one more thing. You’re no longer a child, so it’s about time you get yourself a girl. How long has it been already? Even our neighbors already have grandchildren. You’re really embarrassing me here.”

Lu Xuan suddenly felt very awkward.

“Oh well, I’ve pretty much given up after all that has happened anyway. You’re just that kind of guy who refuses to settle down. No matter. Get married, give me a grandchild, then be free to do whatever it is you wanna do,” Liu Wanrong said, looking rather displeased. It was apparent that Lu Xuan’s standing would just drop right away after he got grandchildren for his mother.

He would basically be made an outcast.

He suddenly felt rather pitiful.

He was unable to do anything but chuckle awkwardly at that.

That was the thing that exasperated him the most ever since he was reincarnated.

Liu Wanrong looked at her son and asked, “Oh right, one more thing. There will be an ancestral worship ceremony with the rest of the family in a few days. Will you be going?”

“Ancestral worship ceremony?” Lu Xuan felt rather surprised, “The Lu Clan actually has something like that? We actually have other relatives around?”

Lu Xuan was rather perplexed by this. He never heard of his family having other relatives around even after becoming a Celestial Lord back in his past life. From what he was able to remember, the other four members of his immediate family were all he had.

Liu Wanrong rolled her eyes at Lu Xuan and said, “Of course we have other relatives! Your dad is not an orphan; it’s not like he emerged out of a rock or some gift that came with something.”

“If we have other relatives, then how come we’d never paid anyone a visit before?” Lu Xuan asked, feeling rather peculiar about this revelation. “Is this like some tv drama, where dad actually ran away from his family and gave up everything just to be with you or something?”

“The hell are you talking about?” Liu Wanrong whacked his head a bit and continued rather exasperatingly, “I told you to stop watching those Korean dramas. You think the plots of those shows correlates with real life?”

Now Lu Xuan felt attacked. He only watched those dramas because he was watching it with his mother. It was the latter who constantly burst into tears when watching them.

“By the way, the Lu Clan is rather huge in Min Province, with several connections to people in business and politics. Your grandparents passed early, but it was thanks to scholarships from the clan itself that your dad got to go to college. I guess you could say that we kind of owe them,” Liu Wanrong elaborated.

“That so? Then why haven’t we heard of anything regarding the ceremony before?” He then asked.

Liu Wanrong rolled her eyes at him again and continued, “Your dad was practically invisible before. He was married for so long yet hardly managed to get anywhere in his career, so nobody thought of asking for him to join. Things are different now. Your dad founded a company selling those Protection Talismans of yours; the company is now a public-listed one. The rest of the clan probably thought that he was doing well enough, so they asked him to come back and attend the ceremony with them.”

Lu Xuan only learned that it had to do with his dad doing well as of late. He initially thought that they were asked to join the ceremony because of his current position.

However, that was how some clans go about their business; they persistently kept capable people from their own clan close, while fostering those of the younger generation. While the influence of such clans paled in comparison to those back in ancient times, they would have nonetheless grown to be a force to be reckoned with.

“Alright then, I’ll check the event out with dad then,” Lu Xuan nodded and agreed to it.

At the Lu Clan’s village in the mountains somewhere in Fu City, Min Province.

There were a lot of mountains in Min Province, and the village was located deep within them.

It was a place where hardly anyone from outside usually showed up, yet the place was filled with all manner of expensive cars on that day. There were so many that they clogged up the road that was already quite narrow, to begin with.

A poor man in the city remains a nobody, while a rich man deep in the mountains would have distant relatives.

People who were there to join the ancestral worship ceremony from inside and out of the village came in droves, one after another.

The event was so huge that even those of neighboring villages came to check the event out. Everyone seemed to know that many renowned people were emerging from the village, with the one with the highest status securing a leadership position at the provincial level. Many were out to do business becoming bosses of companies, who then went on to fund all the renovative projects to better the village.

Two girls stuck close to the window of an RV in some open field in the village, looking out at the extremely rowdy village before them.

One of the girls sported short hair above shoulder length and wore intricate makeup. She was dressed in a t-shirt with a sweater and ripped jeans, giving her a youthful appearance.

Another who looked to be in her early twenties had brown, shoulder-length hair and sported an oval-shaped face. Her huge eyes looked bright and pretty. She wore a dress that made it seem like the cold didn’t bother her at all.

The girl with the shoulder-length hair grumbled as she sat cross-legged on the bed of the RV. She sparkled with faint Spiritual Qi as she casually said, “Lu Jiaxuan, you really have gotten me in a ditch today. What the hell is with the matchmaking and stuff?”
