Chapter 1078 The Child Is Mine
Evan was in his room and couldn't hear what Jenny and Alec were talking about, but he
could guess from Alec's smile that they were having a good chat. His mood suddenly
turned sour.
"You should rest." Howard didn't know what Evan was thinking, nor could he do anything
about it.
Evan nodded and got up from the wheelchair to lie down on the bed. Just as Howard was
about to leave, he suddenly said, "Set an appointment with Alec to come over tomorrow."
"You want to see him?" Howard was puzzled. He didn't think Evan and Alec had anything
to talk about.
Evan nodded but didn't bother to explain. He was already formulating a plan in his mind. If

Howard didn't ask any more questions. All he knew was that Evan had his plans, and he
just needed to do as he was told.
The next day, Jenny invited Marigold out during her lunch break.
Marigold was confused when she received Jenny's phone call as she didn't think she had
anything to discuss with Jenny. It seemed strange that she suddenly called her and asked
to meet up. Nonetheless, she still went to meet her.
As soon as she sat down, the waiter brought her a glass of juice.
"Although drinking coffee isn't exactly harmful during pregnancy, many people are still
bothered about it, so I ordered juice for you instead."
"Thank you." Marigold thanked her, surprised by Jenny's thoughtfulness.
She didn't dare to drink coffee, even though her doctor had told her it wouldn't affect her
pregnancy. As she sipped her juice, she wondered what Jenny wanted to talk to her about.
After a brief silence, Jenny noticed that she was nervous and sighed, thinking that
Marigold had changed.
"Dr. Walter, why did you invite me here?” Marigold finally asked.
Jenny put down her coffee and looked at her, asking, "Is your child Gilbert's?"
Perhaps because she was too straightforward, Marigold was stunned.
"Why would you ask that?" Marigold nervously picked up the drink on the table, trying to
steel her nerves.
But Jenny could see through her. "Paul talked to me about it yesterday," Jenny said, not
beating around the bush.
Marigold froze.
"Although I don't like him very much, Paul is still a good brother. At least he cares about

Marigold didn't deny it. Instead, she asked, "What are you trying to say?"
"Are you not going to tell Gilbert about the child?"
"The child is mine. Why should I tell anyone else?" Marigold shook her head.
"Isn't it also Gilbert's child?" Jenny asked, hoping to glean something from Marigold's
expression. Unfortunately, she found nothing.
Looking a little down, Marigold cast her a wary look. "My child has nothing to do with him."
"Are you really planning to give birth to the child?" Jenny asked.
"Of course." Almost without hesitation, Marigold nodded in agreement.
Jenny was at a loss for words. From their conversation just now, it seemed that Marigold
intended to raise the child alone.
Jenny admired her, but she felt sorry for the unborn child.
