Chapter 657 None of Your Business
"There's no need." Alec refused and was about to walk past Jenny to get in his car.
Jenny didn't give up. She looked at Alec and continued, "Are you afraid of me?"
"Afraid of you?" Alec sneered, "Why would I be afraid of you?"
"If you're not afraid, why can't you dinel with me? Although we're divorced, that doesn’t
mean we have to avoid each other like the plague, right?"
Jenny looked at Alec, trying to catch any unusual change of emotion from his stoic face.
Unfortunately, he remained very calm and aloof.
"I'm not afraid of you; I'm just not bothered. You need to understand the difference
between the two." Alec stared back at her, feeling a little annoyed for no reason.
Jenny pouted and continued, "Then that's all the more reason you shouldn't avoid me. You
want to become the heir of the Fausts, don't you? Besides working with the Watkins,
shouldn't you also consider collaborating with the Walters?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAlec frowned. "Can you represent the Walters?"
Nodding in response to his question, Jenny answered, "Of course.
Everyone in Bardoff City knows that I'm the Walters heir."
Alec pondered what she'd said for a moment, seemingly really considering that possibility.
Seeing him being so calculative, Jenny felt a little saddened. She didn't expect there would
come a day when she would need to propose an exchange of benefits just to have a meal
with Alec.
After some time, he finally nodded. "Okay, I'll treat you to a meal."
He didn't want to owe Jenny too much and felt it was better to keep her at arm's length.
On the other hand, Jenny didn't care who would pay for the meal. She just wanted an
opportunity to have a private conversation with Alec. So, she got into Alec's car, and they
headed to the nearest restaurant.
On the way to their destination, Jenny thought of the day she saw Alec and Blake walking
side by side. Feeling a little jealous, she asked, "What is your relationship with the lady
from the Watkins family?"
"It's none of your business," Alec replied coldly.
Jenny was speechless. She couldn't help but lament, "You're the same as when we first
met."
Alec didn't say anything. He learned Jenny was his ex-wife by reading about their
information. He'd read up on how they'd been married for two years but never met, and
after their divorce, he began to pester her. As for what exactly happened back then, he
had no recollection.
He didn't want anyone to discover that he'd lost his memory, so he chose to remain silent.
"I remember you once said you fell in love with me at first sight." Jenny chuckled lightly,
unsure if she was mocking herself or Alec.
Alec frowned. He didn’t think he was the kind of person who would say something like

"Alec, if you're doing this to protect me, it's unnecessary," Jenny said as their car reached
the restaurant.
Alec was confused by her words. "What do you mean?"
Jenny looked out the car window and then got out of the vehicle. "Let's talk inside."
If Alec was really trying to protect her, he would be cautious and wouldn't speak the truth
where it wasn't safe.
Alec followed Jenny into the restaurant, but he still didn't understand what she meant.
Jenny chose a private room, ordered food, and asked the waiter to leave them alone. They
were the only ones there.
Jenny spoke up, "You can speak freely here. There's no one else besides us. You don't have
to worry about being recorded as well."
Alec furrowed his brows, evidently not understanding why she would say that.
"I remember the time when your father came back-you deliberately picked a fight with me
to ensure my safety, and that led to our breakup," Jenny explained, feeling that she'd
made everything clear enough for Alec to comprehend.
It was crystal clear, and Alec understood the meaning behind her words.
Because of that, he couldn't help but laugh.
