Chapter 677 Shouldn't I Hate You?
"I'll be careful. Okay. Let's have dinner together in a few more days."
Stephanie held her phone and perfunctorily responded to Jenny, but she couldn't help but
glance nervously at Paul sitting opposite her.
She chose not to tell Jenny about Paul being right in front of her. She'd seen the news
reports for the past few days and knew the Walters were in turmoil. She didn't want Jenny
to worry about her during such a time. Besides, Paul was just sitting across from her and
hadn't done anything to her, they hadn't even spoken to each other.
After hanging up the call, Stephanie placed her phone on the table and carefully picked up
her glass to take a shallow sip of water, barely able to suppress her fear. But no matter
how much she tried to stay calm, Paul could still see her fear toward him.
"Are you afraid of me?"

Stephanie unconsciously tightened her grip on the glass and took a while to relax before
replying, "No."
"Really? You look so nervous; it doesn't seem like you're unaffected." Paul sneered. They
hadn't seen each other for a few days, but Stephanie's lying skills didn't seem to have
improved at all.
Stephanie put down her glass of water and looked at him. "What do you want?"
"Can't I see you when there's nothing going on? Did you think you could relax just because
you came to Bardoff City?" His intent gaze fixed on Stephanie made her feel like she was
suffocating.
Stephanie couldn't catch her breath under his gaze but still bravely asked," What have I
done to offend you? Why do you have to keep following me?" She had to flee her
hometown with her parents because of him. What more could he want?
"You've offended me in many ways." Paul felt inexplicably annoyed, sensing her seething
anger directed at him. If Stephanie hadn't tried to escape again and again, would he have
to keep pursuing her?
His words made Stephanie's blood boil. "What have I done to offend you? Tell me!"
She was very emotional as she shot up from her chair. "Am I not miserable enough now?
I've left my hometown, yet you're still chasing me. Are you trying to drive me to death?"
Paul had never seen Stephanie so out of control, and his heart was twisted with pain. "I
never intended to do that."
"Oh, really? Then what do you want now?" The moment Paul appeared, Stephanie felt like
she couldn't control herself. She thought she was sick because just laying her eyes on him
was enough to trigger her stress response.
Paul pursed his lips and stayed silent for a while before speaking up again," I just came to

He wasn't as overbearing as before, but Stephanie didn't relax just because of that. "I was
doing well. Everything was going great before I saw you," she replied.
Although she sometimes missed him at night, more often than not, she enjoyed the days
without him.
"Do you just hate me so much?" Paul didn't understand. She'd said she loved him before,
so how could things change so quickly?
Stephanie found his words ridiculous. She slowly sat back in her seat and tried to control
her emotions.
"Shouldn't I hate you? If it weren't for you, my parents and I wouldn't have had to leave
the place we've lived in since I was a child. Don't you feel even a hint of guilt?" Before Paul
could reply, Stephanie laughed at herself and went on, "I'm so stupid. How could someone
like you feel guilty? In your mind, you probably think I don't know what's good for me."
