Chapter 905 Laying Up Trouble for Yourself
"Things are fine on my end, but Jade seems to be struggling with some issues. If you're
free, you should help her out." Jade was responsible for the fashion design work, which
was out of his scope, and he decided to rope Jenny into the issue.
She asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's probably some issue involving her ex-husband. Anyway, her projects aren't going too
smoothly at the moment.’ Alfred had no clue about Jade's work struggles. Since they were
custodians of the company who worked independently, he would not offer his help if Jade
didn't ask.
Jenny harbored a guess after listening to him, and she answered, "Sure. I got it."
Alfred dropped the topic of Jade and asked, ' Do you like the apartment?"
"It's pretty decent." She nodded.

and ignored Melissa's presence. Melissa wanted to chat but couldn't find a chance to
interrupt their conversation.
Meanwhile, Jenny, who was worried for Melissa, lectured Alfred, "I know that the
company's still in the growth stage, but you shouldn't bury yourself in work. You need to
consider settling down-don't miss the right time."
He frowned at the abrupt topic shift. "Since when did you start worrying about your
employee's marital prospects?"
"Of course I do. You're my ace. I have to be concerned about your marital prospects."
Jenny sounded serious. She would have shoved Melissa into his arms if only Alfred wasn't
against it.
He scoffed in an ambiguous response, "Save it. You should worry about yourself."
"Okay,” she replied, feeling speechless when she noticed that Melissa was still staring at
the ground. She slid her hand underneath the table and squeezed Melissa's hand while
sending signals via her eyes.
A confused and naive Melissa asked her, "What's up?"
"You blockhead!" Jenny thought.
However, Melissa finally caught up as she turned to Alfred with reddened cheeks. "Alfred,
do you have anyone in your mind?"
It was an important question for her.
Alfred shot her a look and glanced at Jenny. His gaze traveled between the two and
instantly grasped the situation. "Do you have a crush on me?"
Caught by surprise at his bold question, she froze before nodding and answering in an
almost inaudible voice, "Yeah."

"Okay." Alfred dropped a puzzling answer.
Melissa was confused as well. What did that even mean? Was that a rejection?
Thankfully, Alfred didn't keep her guessing. He clarified, ’We're incompatible."
She felt her heart break into pieces. "Why so? You've never gotten to know me.’
"You can't explain incompatibility. It has nothing to do with how much I know you," he
argued without looking at her. He never took a liking to Melissa ever since Jenny tasked
him to teach the woman. After he finally sent Melissa away, he would never allow her to
return under his wings.
On the verge of crying, Melissa was stunned by how brutally she was rejected by her first-
ever crush. He didn't give her a chance at all. Feeling defeated, she turned to Jenny. "Boss,
say something."
Jenny sipped on her coffee and sighed wistfully as she thought, "What else can I say? I
can't possibly ask Alfred to date her. A relationship is not child's play."
"Uh, Alfred, you don't have to reject her outright. You can get to know each other,’ she bit
the bullet and put in a word for Melissa. She was to blame for even thinking of inviting
Melissa and Alfred to dinner. "You're laying up trouble for yourself," she secretly scolded
herself.
