Chapter 968 It's His Own Choice
"What are you thinking about? I said dinner was ready, but you didn't respond. Didn't you
say you were starving?" Alec was right behind her without her noticing.
Jenny snapped out of her thoughts. "Nothing. Can we finally eat? Awesome!"
She got up and walked toward the dining table.
Alec did have a knack for cooking. In just a short while, he made three dishes and one
soup, and they all looked and smelled delicious.
"Alec, if you ever go bankrupt, consider opening a small restaurant. I'll definitely come and
support you." With this level of cooking skill, Jenny believed that Alec could make it big if
he opened a restaurant.
Alec laughed at her suggestion and handed her a plate. "If I become the boss of a
restaurant, will you be the lady boss?"
Jenny was slightly stunned and pretended not to have heard him. "These French fries taste
good. Even though I cut them into huge chunks, that doesn't affect the taste, does it?"
"Is that so?" Alec asked in return, clearly implying it would be strange if the taste was the
same.

Alec chuckled lightly, not wanting to argue with her. If she said it was the same, then so be
it. There was no need to have a debate over the issue. After all, he made it for her to eat.
As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered.
As they ate, Jenny thought of the news she'd seen about the Fausts and became worried.
She asked, "Is everything okay with the Fausts? Things don't look too good."
"It's okay. Even if something happens, it has nothing to do with me," Alec replied,
continuing to put food on her plate.
"Aren't you concerned that the Fausts will lose their position at the top of the Ten Elites
because of this?" Jenny asked. After all, many families were eyeing that position; even her
father had thought about it.
Alec smiled and looked at Jenny with fondness. "Do you think I care about those things?
Besides, even if we do fall, don't I have the ability to climb back up once I officially inherit
the Faust family?"
If he didn't have that ability, why would he even bother fighting for the position to become
the heir?
Jenny thought his words made sense. At this point, the Faust family didn't have much to
do with Alec; he was just an ordinary worker working for the Fausts. Any trouble the Fausts
faced didn't really concern him until the head officially handed over the family to him.
She didn't continue asking and felt that she'd been overthinking things.
"Evan came to see me today," Jenny suddenly said, looking at Alec.
Alec's hand that was holding a fork paused for a moment, then he quickly resumed eating
like normal. "Really? What did he say to you?"
"He told me the truth," Jenny answered without being specific about the details.
"I didn't lie to you either. You didn't ask me about Xavier's matter. Besides, you already
knew I did it," Alec said with a smile.
That was true. Alec had never hidden the matter from
Jenny, but he hadn't told her that it was Evan who had done the deed.
"I know." Jenny nodded, not accusing Alec of lying to her.
"I'm just curious. How did you persuade Evan to help you?" Jenny asked, somewhat
intrigued.

Alec felt a little embarrassed and casually replied, "It's nothing. I just have some leverage
over him. If he didn't think it was something incriminating to him, he wouldn't have caved
in and let me have control over him."
"I see." Jenny nodded thoughtfully but didn't ask any more questions.
After a moment of contemplation, she suddenly asked, "Do you think I can convince Evan
to give up the path he’s currently on?"
Alec stopped his movements, and upon seeing that Jenny wasn't joking, his expression
became serious. "It's very unlikely."
He knew how difficult it had been for Evan to get to where he was today. If he were to give
up just because Jenny wanted him to, he wouldn't have made it to this point.
"That's what I thought too. I talked to him today, but he refused." Jenny sighed bitterly.
She really didn't want to see him get into trouble.
"Don't overthink it. You've done your best. It's his own choice." Alec was not surprised by
Evan's refusal to give it all up. He would be surprised if it was the contrary.
Jenny sighed again and forced a smile. "Yeah, I know. I'm just chatting about this matter
casually."
That topic ended there, and neither of them spoke again. They finished their meal in
silence.
After seeing Alec off, Jenny returned to her room and lay on the bed, feeling exhausted.
She was exhausted from the events of the day, so she quickly fell into a deep slumber.
