Chapter 993 Stop Trying to Gauge Me

After realizing she’d misunderstood Derrick, McKenna felt a bit embarrassed. "Who knows

what you were thinking? After all, you did like her before.”

Although McKenna said that, Derrick knew that she was no longer angry. She just couldn't

come to terms with it right now.

"It was my fault for not handling it properly, which led to your misunderstanding. I promise

it won't happen again next time," Derrick said without blaming McKenna.

Hearing him say that, McKenna felt much better. "So, does that mean you won't take care

of her if you see her sick the next time?"

Derrick felt awkward and only spoke up after a while, "I'll quickly call other colleagues to

take her downstairs together."

He was sure that if he said he wouldn't help Jenny, McKenna would be unhappy with his

answer as well because she would think he was heartless.

Sure enough, McKenna wasn't angry anymore after hearing him say that." Well, that's

about right."

"McKenna, are you not angry anymore?" Derrick asked, still a bit uneasy.

McKenna nodded, somewhat gingerly. "I'll trust you for now. But if I find out you're lying to

me...Well, you know what the consequences will be."

Derrick immediately shook his head. "Don't worry. Such a thing won't be happening."

He didn't have the courage to lie to McKenna. He valued his life far too much to dothat.

McKenna turned around, walked out of the staircase, and made her way to the elevator.

Derrick quickly caught up and asked, ' McKenna, where are you going?"

"I'm going downstairs to see how Jenny is. You said she's sick, right? She's a coworker,

after all. We should go take a look," McKenna replied.

She didn’t have any ill intentions toward Jenny. In reality, she just didn't want her

boyfriend to have too much contact with other women, as it made her insecure. After

realizing she had misunderstood Jenny, she felt guilty and wanted to go down and see if

there was anything she could help with.

Derrick heard that and felt delighted. "McKenna, you're really kind."

McKenna pouted and didn't reply. She silently thought she wasn't kind at all —if she found

out Derrick had any contact with Jenny, she would definitely give him a beating!

The two of them took the elevator and went downstairs. They soon found their colleague

who was in charge of handling colds and fevers that day, but they didn't see Jenny. After

asking around, they were told that Jenny hadn't been there. Hearing that, Derrick and

McKenna felt that something was off.

They had seen Jenny take the elevator downstairs. Could she have left on her own after

going down? It didn't seem likely in her condition. Derrick could tell that Jenny was quite

ill, and if she'd left on her own, she might have passed out somewhere.

He wanted to look for her, but he didn't dare say it out loud. Stealing a glance at McKenna,

he asked, "McKenna, what do you think is going on?"

"Stop trying to gauge my reaction. I know you want to go and look for her,” McKenna said,

clearly not fooled. Based on Derrick's expression just now, he was definitely worried about

Jenny. However, she didn't want to argue with him because even she found the situation

peculiar.

Derrick felt embarrassed and decided not to say anything else, knowing that the more he

said, the more misunderstandings he would cause. He decided to give up and not get

involved since Jenny had nothing to do with him, but McKenna didn't plan to just leave it at

that.

She said, "Let's go and ask Mr. Zeller. If Jenny left, he would know.”

Mr. Zeller was the security guard downstairs. He was familiar with every doctor and nurse

in the hospital, so if Jenny had left, he would have seen it.

"Okay." Derrick felt slightly relieved that she cared about Jenny's whereabouts. At any

rate, they should at least find out where Jenny had gone.
