“Oi…”
Fer was staring at me as though he wanted to say something.
“Master…”
Grandpa Gon too.
““Um, so…””
Don’t say it, Dora-chan.
““Aruji~~ Sui is bored~!!””
As though a dam had burst upon Sui’s remark, loud voices filled the air, saying ‘That’s right, that’s right, we’re bored, it’s boring!’
[1] I pretended not to hear them.
“As expected, we should go hunt down that Green Dragon.”
“Umu, a hunt.”
““Right? Right? We should totally hunt that fellow down!”
“”Dragon~ dragon~ dragon~””
As expected, there was no way I could distract them forever with food, delicious or otherwise. Though, I must say that I did my best. After the Grilled Dragon Turtle, I served up Fried Dragon Turtlel. The meal after that was Leviathan Hotpot and Dragon Turtle Hotpot, because, of course, we must compare them both, right?
I fed them all sorts of dishes made with all kinds of meat…
However, it was all in vain.
It was all ‘hunting, hunting’, nothing but ‘dragon hunting, dragon hunting’.
These familiars of mine have too much free time on their hands.
Still, in between cooking times, I was able to sit and enjoy my precious break time enjoying the delicious coffee and teas that I had bought locally and online.
I would like to have a longer break, but Fer and the rest would never allow it.
The Adventurer’s Guild had sent word that Johan-san would be returning to Carelina today, but no matter what, there was no way he would be able to finish dismantling the rest of my Dragon Turtles tomorrow…
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt[1] Not to mention, there was no point in rushing the dismantling anyway since I already had Dragon Turtle meat in hand, so there was really no need to go to the Adventurer’s Guild at all-
“Hunting! Hunting! Hunting!”
Of course, there’s that side making a huge fuss too.
Haahh… do I really have to?
“Hey, I’m asking this now because I’m not sure…”
“What is it?” Fer said grumpily.
“You guys do understand what happens after you’ve hunted down a big monster, right?” I said. “I can only butcher small things…”
““Of course we know, the Adventurer’s Guild!”” cried Dora-chan.
“You guys…” I thought I had mentioned this before? Have they completely forgotten about it? Didn’t I mention it to them before?
“Yeah, but for really specialized creatures like dragons, we need an expert,” I said slowly. “You know, a certain kind of expert, passionate enough to, ah, dedicated his life to something that most people would have long since given up on…”
“”Sui knows~! Sui knows~!”” Sui started bouncing up and down excitedly. “”It’s funny Uncle Elf~!””
“… …”
“”… …””
“That’s right, we’ll have no choice but to ask for Elland-san’s assistance! We will have to meet with him just to get your Green Dragon dismantled!”
Grandpa Gon and Dora-chan’s faces looked like something out of the portrait of The Scream by Munch…
Hahaha! What do you think, huh?
“That fellow…” Fer’s lips curled up. He looked like he was about to say something insensitive but held himself back before the words could escape him. In the end, he grumbled, “I guess it can’t be helped…”
I folded my arms and said, “You understand now? I’m sure you have no problem catching the Green Dragon, but have you ever thought about what happens next? Hm? Are you so excited to see Elland-”
“Kuuhhh!!”
“”Gaahhh!!!””
Grandpa Gon and Dora-chan immediately flinched back with a disgusted look on their faces. To be honest, I’d be disgusted too… I had only been platonically hugged by the Elf once or twice, but it felt really uncomfortable and… kind of violating? I’m sure he doesn’t mean any harm but his way of showing his enthusiasm is just so… so passionate? That’s right, passionate is as good a word as any to describe him.
More importantly, “In short, since there’s no point going after the Green Dragon, there’s no reason to go hunting.”
“Wh-?”
““Eh-?””
Fer and Sui immediately protested. I turned a grave look at them, “Just look at how much Grandpa Gon and Dora-chan hated the very idea, don’t tell me you’re going to force them even though they hated it?”
“Gunu...”
“Sui, are you really going to make Grandpa Gon and Dora-chan do something they don’t like? Hm? What if Sui is forced to do something you don’t like? Like eating a bowl of spicy chillies? Would you want to do it?”
I know I’m pressing the matter, but I must harden my heart even against Sui or I will never hear the end of this.
“”Sui don’t like…””
“Right?” I was doing my best to suppress the grin from rising to my face. “Therefore, there’s no need to go hunting.”
There, the final nail in the coffin.
Ufufufufu~
“Hold it,” said Fer. “While it is true that once we hunted down the Green Dragon, we would have to visit that Elf to get it dismantled. However, there is no need to have it immediately dismantled, right?”
[1] “W-well, if you want the meat, you’ll have to get it dismantled…” I said, not liking where this was going.
“Umu, indeed, however, we only have to see that Elf when we need to get the Green Dragon dismantled. Therefore, so long as we do not need to dismantle the Green Dragon, there is no reason to go.”
“”Hey, not that I don’t follow you, but what are you trying to say?”” asked Dora-chan.
“That’s right, once we have the Green Dragon, Master can just keep it in his [Item Box] until we are ready to eat it. We still have plenty of different kinds of meat to eat. We can wait until we really want to eat to visit the crazy Elf, right?”
Kuuhhh—!!
He has struck at the fatal point of my excuse!
Grandpa Gon immediately picked up this point as well. “Ah! That is true. There is no reason to go and see that thing until we absolutely have to. We can still take down the Green Dragon and keep it in Master’s time stop [Item Box]. That’s right, unless and until our desire to eat dragon meat outweighs the horror of meeting that thing, there is no need to meet it.”
[1] Wow, how much does Grandpa Gon hate Elland-san to the point that he calls him ‘that thing’?
[2] Dora-chan appeared to have returned to normal as well. He fluttered his winds and shrugged his shoulders to say, “”I see, I see, it’s a shame that we can’t eat the Green Dragon right away, but I guess there’s no reason why we can’t hunt it down if we want to.””
You too, Dora-chan?
““Hunting~? Dragon~?”” Sui inquired hopefully.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmFer nodded imperiously, “Yes, we shall go hunt it now.”
“”Yay~!! Yay~~!!””
Sui, who had looked like a flat puddle of goo just now had bounced back into her nice plump shape once again. Hahhhh… I guess she gets really excited over the prospect of hunting dragons…
That’s right, we are hunting down a dragon now.
“Let’s go, Master~!”
“Umu,”
“”Gogogo!””
“”Go~! Go~! Go~!””
“Hold it,” I said. “We have a lot of preparations to make.”
“What preparations?”
“Is Master talking about speaking with the Guild about travelling?”
“Umu, let’s go and tell them quickly.”
“”Let’s go! Let’s go!””
“”Hunting~ Dragon~~””
“Oi, what the heck are you guys doing?” even as I protested, I was snatched up by the back of my shirt and dumped onto Fer’s back.
“I have him, let’s go.”
“Master, do not worry. It will be fine.”
“No, no, no! Wait a minute! Just wait!”
“Oi, enough talking or you’ll bite your tongue.”
“Why is this happening to meeeeeeeee—-!!!”
