entered Daniella’s room

She placed the phone back on the table and turned to leave.

Just as she reached Evan’s room, he appeared at the top of the stairs.

Shocked, Caroline’s facial expression changed, and she almost stumbled.

Glancing at him while feigning calmness, she opened the door and entered the room.

Just when she thought she could finally relax, he walked in as well.

“Why are you panicking?” The man’s penetrating gaze bore into her, sharp as a hawk’s.

Sweat formed on her forehead, and just as she was contemplating what to say, Lily arrived at the

door.

“Sir, Ms. Shenton is experiencing gastric discomfort. She has no appetite to eat the food I prepared

for her.”

Caroline felt secretly grateful. Lily had come to her rescue at the perfect moment!

Evan’s expression turned grim instantly. “Are you throwing a tantrum? Don’t you realize how terrible

you look?”

She seized the opportunity to catch her breath. “I’m feeling a little sick. Am I not allowed to feel

that way?”

She wasn’t lying: the anxiety had made her nauseous. She truly couldn’t adjust to engaging in sneaky

activities.

Evan pursed his thin lips. “Get the doctor here, Lily.

“No need!” Caroline interrupted quickly. “Lily, just bring me some fruits.”

Lily nodded and left the room.
