Caroline was about to make the call when Evan stopped her. “Call his department. Do you have his

department’s number?”

“I do! I saved it previously for emergencies. I’ll call!” Kenny volunteered.

He dialed Scott’s department, and the call was answered after a while.

Kenny put the call on speaker, holding his breath as he listened.

“Who is this?” Scott’s tired voice echoed.

Kenny and Caroline visibly relaxed.

“It’s me, Scott,” Kenny replied.
