He hadn’t given up yet.

But hey, a narrow escape is still an escape! Without saying another word, Clara turned and

walked away.

Behind her, Emmett watched her retreating figure and sighed

This woman was just irresistible!

Clara hurried away, immediately pulling out her phone to call Elio.

Elio had been waiting for her call for a while.

“Are you okay? Did Emmett give you a hard time?” Elio asked, with his voice full of urgent

concern.

“Where are you? I’m coming to get you!”

“No need, I can go home myself.”

“I need to find you to discuss what to do next. Dodging me is not a solution. I’ve already

talked to Emmett. I found the biological mother of the kid. Clara, you have to meet

with me!‘

Clara bit her lip, “Alright, come find me, but don’t let Alex know.”

“Okay”

Clara waited for a while, and Elio’s car arrived.

He quickly got out and took a good look at Clara, “Are you alright? Did Emmett give you a

hard time? What did you tell Emmett?”

Clara was taken aback, “You’re firing so many questions at me that I don’t know which one

to answer first.”

“Did Emmett find out about you and Alex?”

“I didn’t get a chance to tell him before you called him.” Clara lowered her head, ‘Elio,

thank you! You’ve helped us a lot. I’m afraid you’ll get dragged into this! You’re lying to

Emmett, what if… what if he finds out? The Melendez family won’t let you off the hook!”

“Thats a problem for later! At least he won’t find out for now. The woman I found to pose

as Alex’s biological mom is my cousin. She’s been taken care of by my family since she

was little. So unless Emmett finds out himself, she won’t spill the beans. When she meets

Emmett, I’ll have her wear your clothes. This way, she’ll have your scent and wont raise

Emmetts suspicion. Like this.” Elio paused, “Like this, you can be with Alex. You don’t have

It’s the best solution Elio could come up with.

“But…”

“No buts, you don’t have any other choices. Look on the bright side, you can reunite with

your family. You can be with both of your sons, and they can proudly call you Mom. How

great is that!”

Clara looked into his eyes, furrowing her brow, “What about you?”

“Me?”

“You’ve done so much for me, but you haven’t gotten anything in return”

Elio waved his hand, putting on a casual smile, “I’m fine! As long as you and Alex are

happy. Would a stud like me worry about not finding a girlfriend? I might even find a

super–awesome wife!”

Clara bit her lower lip, feeling a pang of guilt that words couldn’t express.
