“Why can’t you stay with me? Can’t you see how much I care about you? It’d be so great if the bun in your oven

was mine! I like Alex, and I’d love your child; we could go back to how things were!”

Clara was lying in bed, her eyes tightly shut.

“If Emmett hadn’t shown up, I really think you would’ve gotten used to me and would’ve stayed with me, even if it

was just to give Alex a complete family! But fate’s a bitch; everything’s changed!”

Elio held Clara’s hand tightly.

Elio frowned. His emotions were mixed.
