falling for you, all these efforts would go down the drain!”

“Nothing much. Emmett’s started his investigation. Be careful, don’t let him catch you. I won’t be able to help you

Elio frowned, “I don’t need your meddling.”

“But I have to warn you, if Emmett finds out and you spill the beans, throw me under the bus, I can’t guarantee

your parents’ safety…”

“You!”

Clara raised an eyebrow, “You know me, I’m a regular mad-hatter! No one can stand in the way of what I want to

do!”

Elio got the message. He said, “If that’s all, I’m leaving.”

“Where are you headed? Do I need to get someone to watch your back?”

“Don’t play innocent. I know you just want to control Clara. Let me tell you, no chance! As long as I’m around, you

can’t lay a finger on her!”

Leah shrugged, “All right, since you’ve seen through me, no point playing coy. I’m just worried Emmett might find

Clara. If that happens, my plan will go up in smoke! I can’t afford any hiccups!”

“What could possibly go wrong? The news is out already, didn’t you see?”

“Yeah, that’s true.”

Leah smirked, chin up, “Emmett was supposed to be mine! Clara’s not his match. Everything’s perfect now, and you

just need to keep Clara safe, stop her from messing up my plan, then it’ll be even more perfect!”

Elio was in no mood for small talk. He gave her a cold stare.

“If there’s nothing else, I’m off.”

“You’re my brother! I’m just looking out for you. Honestly, as your sister, I suggest you get Clara pregnant during

this time! That way, she can’t leave you.” Elio snorted, “I’m a man of principles. I don’t take advantage of others!”

“I’m saying all this for your own good. Think about why Emmett’s after her. Isn’t it because they have two kids? If

she loved Emmett from the start, she wouldn’t have run to you, right?”

Elio frowned, giving her a complex look, “I don’t need your advice.”

“Looking at you, I mean well.” Leah spread her hands, “All right, since you want to play the righteous guy, I won’t

bother you.”

Elio turned to leave, and as soon as he stepped out, he saw a bunch of missed calls on his phone.

The calls were from the servant, and without thinking, he knew Clara wouldn’t have stayed put.

But he was at a loss. If Clara shows up, his parents’ safety would be at risk.
