In any case, Jake eventually found the last area, which thousands of those monsters around. It wasn't a mountain or a hill, but there was a hole on the ground which was in the center of their formation. The underground dungeons were a pain in the ass to deal with and easy to defend. That being said, Jake would welcome the challenge.
"I suppose this will be a bit harder…" Jake thought while furrowing his eyebrows.
Jake fought many enemies before at the same time, but not that number and at such an open field. The monsters were also using their formation even better than before. They had divided themselves into platoons, and each platoon of spear man had a platoon of archers behind. With that kind of formation, they could attack anyone approaching from a distance and then use numerous platoons to surround them.
"Hmm… if they can deploy this kind of formation, I wonder if they developed it after facing some people," Jake thought. "According to the quest, this quest was cleared almost one month ago, so… the front liners must have been here between two or three weeks ago, and that gave them plenty of time to grow in numbers."
With that in mind, Jake will have to face almost ten thousand enemies… that was a great way to get some coins, but he couldn't imagine winning without using dark flames a lot. In the end, Jake wanted to boost his ego by doing that without relying on the flames to attack, but it seemed almost impossible.
"Come to think of it, I forgot to master the whip… should I try to use that here?" Jake thought.
It seemed like a bad idea to use a weapon like that against so many enemies, even more so when he had no experience while using it. Still, Jake had to check the power of the summons, and he wasn't planning on using them for combat. Still, maybe it would be helpful against small fries in the future and for mobility purposes.

"Well, for level one monsters, they aren't totally useless," Jake thought while looking at the puppy in front of him.
Jake grabbed the puppy with his arms, and he barely could feel any weight… they were also like half a meter long… like cats. All in all, they were too cute right now for battle purposes. Jake had planned to use some of them as cannon fodder if necessary during that mission, and now he realized how bad of a human being he was. His heart was almost healed and cleansed completely from that cuteness.
"I am sorry that I had to kill so many of your species for their fur and scales," Jake said and then put the puppy at the top of his head. "Well, I am not really sorry since this is the survival of the fittest, but you got the gist. Once I am done here, we will see how you can level up. In any case, let's call you… Ghost. Just kidding, your name will be Magnus. It is a pretty strong sounding. Do you like it?"
"Au!" Magnus barked.
Jake's mind had been cleared after giving his new companion a name, so he decided not to waste his time with the small fries around the dungeon. He will defeat them with everything he has…
Out of nowhere, the monster saw something approaching from the sky. They had no idea how Jake managed to approach from the sky like that, but he was approaching while falling down. They used their spells to kill him before he could do anything, but Jake blocked those with a wall of dark flames. That skill was really good against everything related to magic.
When Jake landed, he made the dark flames spread around him, and they incinerated dozens of the monsters. The creatures couldn't help but frown since they had never seen that kind of fire, and their allies were killed instantly. Still, the most unbelievable thing was the fact the culprit had a wolf standing at the top of his head… that was just bizarre.
Regardless, Jake knew that he had two options to decimate the enemies. There were two ways of going all out… Directly and indirectly. In an indirect way, Jake would just have to enter the dungeon and wait for the enemies to attack him in smaller groups. While that was the safest way, Jake had already done that before, so he decided to use the direct approach. He used Mana Shield on Magnus and then summoned his dark flames on his sword, and then dashed toward the nearest group of enemies.
Without a care in the world, when the enemies were about to stab him, Jake swung his sword with all his might. The combination of his flames and sword strike made Jake split in half eight humanoid snakes in the blink of an eye, but that also gave the enemies the chance to attack him. Between three spears and five magic projectiles that hit his back, Jake felt that it would be an excellent mental training to withstand that much pain. Still, he kept dashing while ignoring those behind him.
Like a tornado, Jake kept attacking the enemies while ignoring the ones attacking his back. Fortunately, he could use Regeneration multiple times. Otherwise, Jake would have been in a bind…
