Fighting like usual won't do it. Jake also thought of several combinations of his skills that he could use to increase his hunting speed. Still, those wouldn't help all that much, either. Jake realized that the problem was more fundamental than that… the problem was the fact that he was on the ground and the monsters weren't. It was only natural that they could keep their distance without exposing themselves. Moreover, with the weather like that and with their skills, they all had all the possible advantages that the monsters could ask for.
"Fighting on their turf will be dangerous since I won't be able to move around as freely as before. Their Thunder Spears will also cause a lot more damage," Jake thought. "Now, I can take three of them and stay standing, but I doubt that if I approach them, I will only be hit by such a small number."
No pain, no gain. Jake will have to take his chances. Besides, Jake needed some experience in fighting monsters in the air. After all, he didn't get much when he fought the ember crows. The difficulty level here was a bit higher, but even so… it wasn't like he hadn't done anything that dangerous so far. Besides, he will only better about himself once he succeeds, he couldn't see himself failing no matter what, after all. Regardless, he had to think of a proper way to deal with the situation. Otherwise, just charging toward them would be suicide.
"Let's see… this will do," Jake said after he got his calvary lance from his magic box. "As for you guys… maybe I should summon a few more of you to eat the bodies. They are starting to pile up, and more are in coming."

Jake had ten crystal wolves, and they had reached level fifty. They weren't bad, but not nearly good enough to fight those flying monsters. In the end, Jake summoned forty more to help with the work of gathering the feathers and dealing with the corpses. The bones were useless, so Jake would just leave them behind.
Once the crystal wolves began to work, Jake prepared his ticket to the enemies' turf, which was his cavalry spear. While his body had gotten stronger, he couldn't just jump several kilometers in the air. There were no platforms around to help him either, so he had to improvise. First of all, Jake began to charge Concentrated Strike, and when his arm began to hurt like hell, he used Throw. The lance started to move toward the massive flock of enemies around the mountain. Still, before the weapon could get too far away from him, Jake jumped and then grabbed the weapon again. The result was… The weapon pulled him in toward the monsters.
After flying for a couple of seconds, Jake reached the area where the wheat monsters were, but they only felt his presence after the lance pierced and killed several of them, such had been the power of Jake's attack. Eventually, the weapon lost a lot of power and began to fall alongside one of the corpses. Jake was falling as well, but he recovered the lance and then jumped toward a nearby monster.
The beast tried to cast Thunder Spear, but Jake got close first and then swung his sword at the enemy's beck and cut it. He kicked that body and then used the impulse to approach another beast, but that one managed to fire Thunder Spear faster than he could approach. Jake blocked the attack and then swung his sword three times to kill the beast. He could have killed it faster, but then he wouldn't have recovered the health that he lost.
Jake kept doing that for a while, but eventually, the monsters managed to surround and bombard him with Thunder arrows. Jake blocked most of them with his sword while he was fixing his stance, but some others hit and hit him hard. He killed another monster and tried to hide on its back for a short while, but the monsters followed him in a circular formation. Thus half of them had a clear view to attack him.
In the end, Jake summoned a wall of dark flames and then used Mana Blade on it. In the next moment, the combination of those skills beheaded several of those monsters. Still, others came to take the place of the fallen ones.
"Well, if you want it to play like that…" Jake said and kept using the same combination.
Jake killed some other electric avians, but soon he had to stop because the corpse he was using as a shield was falling too fast… In the end, he grabbed his lance again and threw it upward toward the other monsters. He managed to impale five other beasts, but the monsters around managed to calculate the spot he would stop and had prepared their Thunder Spears,
"Crap…" Jake said while showing a nervous smile.
Before the monsters could attack, they were attacked by a massive torrent of ice spears. Thanks to that, the thunder spears were canceled… Jake didn't know that, but it seemed that the electric avian's weakness was ice magic. Even the crystal wolves managed to cause a lot of damage despite the difference in level because of that.
"Hey, who asked for you guys to help?" Jake shouted. "I had everything under control here…"
