While Jake was trying to find an explanation as to why a bug was helping him so efficiently, he noticed that the number of monsters and the drop of items decreased. When he looked toward the village, he saw several groups of players marching toward the mountain.
"It seems that dungeon really has some amazing rewards for players," Jake said.
"Do you want to join one of those groups?" Lana asked.
"No… with this bug, they will only look oddly at me, and I will get reported," Jake replied. "If I were you, I wouldn't use Heal too often in the presence of others either."
Lana thought that Jake was overthinking it. Still, she was fully aware that even in reality, some people wouldn't lose the chance to cause problems for others. In an online game, the repercussions of such behavior would cause them even fewer problems, so they would feel compelled to do so.
When Jake stopped looking for slimes and stopped to look in a certain direction, Lana did the same, and then she saw a group of three players being chased down by a larger group. In the end, the larger group defeated the smaller group, and then they began to laugh as if they had done something very fun. It was just an online game, but everyone knew that PK would make people start from scratch… while it wasn't something as cruel as killing another person, it was the same as denying another person time and hard work.
"You should look online for a guild that is recruiting priests," Jake said. "Unless you want to suffer the same fate one day."
"What about you?" Lana asked.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"I like to live dangerously… nah, I don't fit in groups," Jake replied.
"You don't say," Lana frowned.
Being socially awkward was one thing, but ignoring someone who was clearly calling for him just because doing so was a pain was way more complicated, and that was what Jake did earlier. Lana knew that Jake wasn't an asshole like that group of players, but she couldn't think of a single good thing about him either.
In any case, to avoid meeting with any troublesome players, they decided to move away from the dungeon. While Jake couldn't wait for the moments where he would have the chance to PK assholes like that, first and foremost, he had to focus on getting at least a full set of items.
"What the hell…" Jake muttered when another drop finally appeared.
Apprentice's Robe
Durability: 12/12
Skill: Focus (0%) master this item to obtain this skill permanently.
Focus: It passively increases your intelligence by one point per level.
Jake sighed in exasperation when he saw that item, it didn't have a single use for him, and the skill certainly wouldn't come in handy. While the status points would be, Jake could imagine him having to use magic to make it level up, and he had no intention of learning magic. He will use all his mana to level up his physical skills.
"Hehe, it seems that I am going to use that first and foremost," Lana smiled from ear to ear.
"Maybe I should sell this…" Jake rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Hey! That is not fair!" Lana said.
"You should study human interactions more and learn what sarcasm is," Jake said and then threw the robe at her.
"That is good… that is very good," Lana said while she was putting on the robe.
The robe was essentially a simple white piece of clothing that people in the past would wear in some places. In any case, Jake decided to look for the next target, but Lana was reading something.
"What now?" Jake asked.
"I received a notification… Apparently, I completed the set of equipment that was necessary for me to learn the Novice class," Lana replied.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"What? Do we get classes like this?" Jake frowned. "That is very weird… What do the classes give you?"
"It increases my intelligence and mana by two points, and my health, stamina, willpower and recovery by one point. The bonus will apply whenever the class levels up as well."
The class system seemed pretty interesting. Still, for a single level up in class grant with status points… It seemed a bit too overpowered. In any case, Jake also wanted to obtain his first-class…, and he probably will once he gets some armor. Hopefully, he will have the chance to obtain it during that mission. It would be a pain to look for players to buy any armor after all.
Even more eager than before, Jake began to hunt the fire slimes while Lana was feeling weird since she was wearing sneakers and her sweatpants below the robe.
Soon after, she rejoined and helped Jake on the hunt since she could only gain coins when she healed him. In any case, the next hour passed in the blink of an eye. It was time for Lana to go, but Jake didn't gain a single drop after the robe. He looked toward the sky hidden in the numerous smoke curtains and then sighed.
"Don't feel too bad about it," Lana said. "I can help you later. It is Sunday and summer vacation has just started."
"... You don't need to be so stubborn, I like to help other people," Lana said, forcing a smile.
"I am just being my usual self, if I were being stubborn, I would say that you would only slow me down," Jake shrugged. "But I didn't."
Lana massaged her forehead. He just says that… how someone could be so stupid? In any case, while Jake was a good hunting partner, he certainly was one of the most troublesome. Maybe it would be better for Lana to make a group of newbie girls playing the game. Now it would be her time to teach others.
"Well… I wish you good luck," Lana said, and then the system made her return to the crystal server.
