Chapter 247 Meditations And Spells
The three books that Arthur had picked out seemed like a strange choice for Val.
"What are these?" Val asked.
"These are Meditation skill books. Each one of them offers different effects." Arthur replied. "Try using Inspect on them."
"Alright." Val did as asked, while Arthur used his own appraisal skill.

The three meditation skills looked similar with differences in the stat they were focused on.
Magic Mediation was meant for Mages and helped in regenerating their MP faster. The speed of regeneration would vary according to the proficiency and wouldn't be too much at the start.
Still, it was better than the basic speed.
Arthur needed this as he would be utilizing the Night's Abyssal Cape for storing items a lot more. At the very least, when he was done hunting he could gather all the objects in the cape with only the Mana as the cost.
When in a pinch he could use the Mana potions, but when that wasn't needed he could just use this to avoid wasting the potions.
The second meditation skill, the Vital Meditation was more of a last resort for players.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAny player could learn it, but it didn't heal much. It only healed 5% of the maximum HP and was more of a first aid. It would prevent one from dying when they had almost no healing items left or had no healer with them either.
'I didn't think I would find Vital meditation here.' Arthur was only expecting to find the first and last methods here.
Vital Mediation was relatively rare and players were more likely to find it in a bigger city.
'While the effects are quite limited… the skill is still upgradeable through a few methods.' This was the entire reason why Arthur had gotten it.
There were better versions of the Mediation skills available but they were a lot harder to find. Some were even class specific. The best meditation type skills were like this.
The Vital Meditation Skill could be upgraded when the Player met the right conditions which were hidden at first. But players eventually discovered it and it became common knowledge. Of course, Arthur knew about it too and knew it'd come in handy so he may as well get the skill now.
The third and final skill was the Focus Mediation Skill.
This one was meant for stamina and was rather straightforward. It was also the fastest one out of them.
Magic Meditation and Focus Mediation both were one of the basic recovery skills that almost all players would have, eventually. Those that didn't have them were either new players or had other variants of the skill.
It didn't make sense to not have the skill after all.
But seeing the skills, particularly the first one, Val was confused.
"Wait, isn't the Magic Meditation skill meant for Magic users?" She asked. "Can you even use it?"
"I can yes." Arthur simply answered.
Val had only seen Arthur use Physical skills, as such didn't know that his class could actually use magic as well. Even if she had seen him use the Frost Touch skill, due to Spear Coating, it just seemed like a physical skill too.
It was much harder to differentiate.
"Is that all you want?" Val questioned.
"Actually no. Let me check a few more skills." Arthur looked in the Magic section for more spells. 'May as well obtain some of the basic spells. Spear coating will be a lot more versatile too.' He thought.
Val watched as Arthur picked out three more books.

The three Spells that Arthur got were the most common spells that most starting mages would get. They had low cost and could be used in varied situations.
Plus, they had effects that would be complimentary to Arthur's own spear skills.
'Fire Bolt and Stone Bullet can be used in combination with Rapid Thrust while Water Slicer can be used with Wide Sweep.' Arthur had picked them specifically for this.
Done with his browsing, he went to Emma who was attending to other players.
"Hi, I'd like to buy these skill books." Arthur spoke after the players had left
Emma turned around and saw the very first player that had visited the skill section.
"Oh, you're back." Emma obviously remembered Arthur, even more so due to his reputation in the town.
"I am. I believe it was time to buy more skills now." Arthur replied.
"Very well, which ones do you want?" Emma inquired before Arthur showed her the books.
Seeing the six books, Emma was surprised again.
'Other than the Vital Mediation and Focus Mediation skills all other are intended for Mages… Just like Rahel said he probably has a hidden class that might allow him to use Magic too.' Emma thought to herself.
She didn't question Arthur this time and just went along with his choices.
"All the books combined will be about 5 Gold coins and 20 silver coins." Emma stated, and a window appeared in front of Arthur showing the exact price for each book.

"Five.. Five gold and twenty silvers!" Val visibly gasped upon hearing the number.
It was simply too high for most players after all.
"Here you go." But Arthur didn't mind it and handed the coins.
He had already expected them to be higher than most other skills.
Spells were almost always higher in cost compared to most skills of an equal level and even more so when they were ranged spells.
This was why Frost Touch was a lot cheaper than the three that Arthur had gotten just now.
Vital Mediation was also higher in cost due to the fact that it was a self healing skill and basically had no cost. The only restriction was that one needed to be stationary to use it.
And when one was that injured, that they were in single digits of HP it was highly likely they wouldn't be able to move around much anyways.
"Here you go." Emma handed the books back to Arthur and he was now free to learn them.

Arthur spent no time in waiting and quickly opened each book, obtaining the skills from them.
In just ten seconds, Arthur had learned six next skills.
Val on the other hand was still surprised by how easily Arthur had spent and amount she hadn't even accumulated since she started playing the game.
"Is that all now?" Val asked once they left the Class Change hall.
"We have one more spot to go." Arthur replied.
"What else are you buying?" Val questioned.
"Potions," Arthur answered. "Gotta have some backup always."
"I haven't even used a single potion so far." Val said, feeling a bit strange.
Most other games would have you start out with potions, but in Morpheus Online they are a lot more expensive for newbies.
"Come on, I know a place," Arthur said and took Val to the potion shop he had made his potions in before.
"Oh! I've been here before." Val had actually checked it out earlier.
"You have?" Arthur raised a brow.
"Yeah, I was looking at potions when I came to the town. I looked at several shops including this. All of them were expensive for me, though." Val replied.
"I see… though you should be able to buy at least one now. You do have the funds." Arthur stated.
