Without the title and good reputation, no player would be able to succeed in what Arthur was trying to do, even if they paid a lot more than him.
The NPCs were proud people and wouldn't be swayed easily, for the most part. Thus, one needed to be respectful to them and know how to talk to them. Thankfully for Arthur, he had a lot of experience in it.
After all, being weak and behind others meant that Arthur had fewer ways of progressing. One of the ways was to be able to converse their way into the favor of others.
Arthur might have been bad at it in the real world, but in Morpheus Online, he had a lot of skill and experience with it.
In fact, there was even a special class that was dedicated to it. It was none other than the Bard Class and was quite varied too.
One could be a free Bard that wandered around. This was the most common form of the Bard class. Then there were the Bards that belonged to the various churches and spread the word of god.
They were usually stronger than normal bards and had healing and buff skills as well. As a support class, they were invaluable in a large party, especially when quests involving NPCs and exploration were involved.
There were even several quests that were simply impossible to do without the Bards. And these were major quests that were crucial to the progress of the game's plot as well.
But for now, Arthur focused on the blacksmith, waiting for his response.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt'If he doesn't agree, I'll have to use the more crude method. But without a proper skill, it'll fail most likely. I don't wanna waste materials.' Arthur knew how the success rate of making equipment varied.
Having a skill set the baseline for it. If one didn't have it, their success rates completely depended on the physical effort put into making something. But this was affected by the environment, materials used and the tools available for making something.
Since Arthur didn't have the skill right now, he could only try to make up for it with the other factors.
The workstation of a Blacksmith would provide with all these.
"Alright. It'll cost you 1 silver to rent my workstation." The Blacksmith finally agreed. "The cost for materials will be extra, depending on what you use." He explained.
"That's great." Arthur said with a smile, quickly handing the man a silver coin.
"Mmm, you can use my workstation at the back." The Blacksmith guided Arthur to the backyard of the shop.
This was where the Blacksmith actually did most of his work. The workshop at the front was just a secondary thing, so that the Blacksmith could also talk to customers. While this split the attention of the blacksmith, this was all one could get right now.
After all, this was still a newbie village and there was a limitation on the quality of shops and NPCs.
In bigger settlements, there would be more assistants helping the Blacksmith, or even multiple blacksmiths working together.
"Now then, what are you making?" The Blacksmith asked.

In response to that, Arthur put down his large rucksack as well as the folded up pelt of the Giant Dire Sewer rat that was packed with other loot before taking out a set of claws.
"I wish to turn these into throwing knives," Arthur replied.
"Let me take a look." The blacksmith extended his hand.
"Sure," Arthur quickly handed the claws to the Blacksmith, feeling excited inside. 'Looks like I'll be getting more than I expected.' He thought.
Normally the blacksmith should have just let Arthur do his stuff, but since he was asking more of him, Arthur reckoned there might be some help coming his way. The guidance from an NPC was quite useful in the game as it could speed up the acquisition of different skills.
For occupation based classes like Blacksmiths, Armorers, Tailors, Herbalists, and more, one needed a teacher to learn after all.
Arthur waited patiently as the Blacksmith checked out the claws.
"Hmm… these are tough enough, but you might want to shave them down to make them a bit easier to throw." The Blacksmith gestured to the part that needed to be trimmed. "As for the handle, some light Cedar wood used for Arrows should be good enough." He advised.
"Ah, I'll do that then." Arthur replied. "Thank you for your guidance." He said with gratitude.
"I'll leave you to it then. You can use the wood in the shed, just tell me how much you used afterwards." The Blacksmith said before taking his leave.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWith him gone, Arthur quickly got to work.
"Let's see… that block of wood should be enough." Arthur picked it up from the shed.
>Light Cedar Wood Block x 1<
He assessed the size of the block and reckoned he could easily make six handles from it.
Next, he placed the block asides and got to work on the claws themselves. He picked the first claw and attached it to a vise firmly. With that done, he picked up a file and started to trim the back of the claw.
>Player Arzhur has attempted to modify Giant Dire Sewer Rat Claw<
>Attempt has failed!<
The notification quickly popped up, showing that Arthur's effort was not fruiting.
"Just need to keep on trying," Arthur muttered.
Some players might have become discouraged or even mistaken by the notification, thinking that they couldn't progress now. But in reality, that wasn't correct. What they had failed was just in changing the shape of the claw. They hadn't destroyed it yet.
As long as the material wasn't destroyed, one could attempt again and again. Of course, there was a limit to this too, but with a good material like this, that limit was decently high.
