-Shrill!

Sound similar to a flock of birds flapping their wings reverberated in an empty white room.

The white room wasn’t entirely empty, as several dummy humanoid targets were filling the room.

A black-haired boy was practicing his skills attacking them with his hand cladded in lightning, like an electric blade.

He was in a black tee-shirt and gray joggers, his attire was loose enough to give him full flexibility over his movements.

(Why are you doing this again? Wasting your time like this I mean)

“I’m not wasting my time,” Sam replied while panting for breath in between his movements. “You’ve seen it, how powerless I can be without my main ability!”

-Cling!

After piercing through his last target, Sam crouched on his knees and took a break to catch his breath..

“I can’t feel that powerlessness again!”

(When I asked you to start transmuting humans you denied my suggestion. When I asked you to get that artifact from L.A. you denied it again. And now you are here practicing the moves that will never work on Willburns, if you ask me, it is a time waste!)

“You don’t understand it! I’m not ready for either of those things right now! I’ve explained this before, if I create an army now, Starsuper will hunt me. And some goes for the artifact plan!” Sam replied as he got himself up and walked over to a corner.

He leaned his back on the wall and sat down on the ground with his legs stretched.

“The only thing I can do is wait. Wait for an opportunity to arrive, wait for a mistake to occur.”

(Sigh… As you wish, it’s your powers after all. Oy! Talking about mistakes, what about that blonde bitch?)

“Mmm?” Sam knitted his eyebrows in a furrow. “Ah, you mean Rebekah, what about her?”

(What will you do about her? And hasn’t she invited you to meet her today?)

“Ahh yes, I have to meet her in a few hours.” Sam heaved a sigh after remembering his appointment.

“As for what to do with her? I’ll use her, I have a plan in mind… Actually, from our position, I can execute multiple plans. It’ll all depend on what she’ll do today. What will be her move?”

It’s true. From the day Rebekah asked him to join her in assassinating her father, Sam had started devising strategies to take full advantage of the situation.

His back isn’t up against the wall anymore. Rebekah won’t kill him for now. Anthony doesn’t know his real identity. The only thing that’s itching him is Kiara.

(Thinking about her again?)

“She is making me weak,” Sam placed a hand on his face. “I can see it now, if it wasn’t for her, I would’ve been in the possession of that artifact long ago!”

(Ha! You don’t say!) The voice in his mind mocked him sarcastically.

“It doesn’t matter, I’ll just have to focus on the task at hand,” Sam slid down his hands a little to reveal his eyes while the rest of his face still covered behind his hand.

(And your task in hand is?)

“Find anything I can use on Willburns and manipulate Rebekah to fall in my palm.” Sam’s eyes glistened with determination as he voiced his goals.

(Good boy)

“There you are,” A blonde-haired girl raised her hand to wave as soon as she spotted Sam. “You know it’s an offense to keep a lady waiting right?”

Sam glanced at the monster of a girl calling herself a lady.

She was wearing a loose sleeve white top with skinny black jeans. Even Sam couldn’t deny that she was looking beautiful with her crystal clear eyes and lustrous blonde hair tied in a bun.

However, he was unaffected by her beauty unlike most people walking past her on the street as she walked toward Sam.

“You are certainly not a lady,” Sam squinted his eyes in ridicule as she got closer. “If you are forgetting then let me remind you, you tried to kill me thrice.”

“Sure sure~” Rebekah’s lips curled up into a smirk. “It was only because you pushed me to do it.” She added while shrugging innocently.

Nerves were bulging out of his forehead by this point. However, he did his best to remain calm. He couldn’t do anything against her anyway.

“Now then, shall we?” said Rebecca as she lifted her hand for Sam to hold.

“This is not a date and I’m not going to hold your hand.” Sam rolled his eyes.

(What is wrong with this bitch? She does understand that you tortured her right?!)

‘It’s an act, she’s being very careful of what she does or says. She doesn’t want to slip up more than necessary information.’ Sam replied in his mind.

It’s true. The only reason Rebekah was being so casual was that she was keeping a tight leash on her tongue. After all, Sam is the Progenitor.

You can’t be too cautious around him. And especially her, who has witnessed his mind in the battle before, she knows how dangerous Sam can be.

If equipped with the necessary information, he’ll raise hell. She was well aware that she was playing with a double edge sword here. But that’s how much desperate she is to kill her father.

“Fine~ Killjoy.” She commented with a pout and started walking.

Sam soon moved his feet and started following her. “Where are we going?” He asked.

“Are you scared?” Rebekah turned her neck and looked over her shoulder to tease Sam.

“No, but I won’t follow you into a secluded area,” Sam replied bluntly. “Anywhere we go, it should be crowded.”

“Pftt! Hahaha!” Hearing that unexpected reply from the black-haired boy, Rebekah couldn’t help but chuckle. “You sound like a girl! Hahaha! Are you that much scared of me?! Hahaha!”

After having a full of her laugh, Rebekah wiped the tears from the side of her eyes and spoke.

“No, we aren’t going to a secluded place if you are worried about that,” Rebekah said earnestly before adding. “Besides, does that even matter? If I wanted to kill you I could do it right here, or would’ve done so on the school’s terrace.”

Sam clenched his fists at that response. She was right. As much as he wanted to retort, she was right.

“So where are we going?” Sam controlled his quelling rage and asked in the calmest possible tone he could muster.

“Where, you ask?” Rebekah looked back at Sam and tilted her head. “To the place where it all began.”
