Wu Jinhai still carried the unconscious Bai Chen on his shoulder as he walked through the dangerous forest. The forest was indeed deserted, but several screams and growls suddenly hit his ears which made him stop in his tracks.
From afar, he could see how several gigantic beasts were attacking some of the participants of the Beast Hunting Event, and he knew that the beasts weren’t just low or middle level. The beasts must have come out of the depths of the forest where they should all be living there forever.
Wu Jinhai knew that the beasts might harm people, but he had no intention of helping those people as he chose to close his eyes and start concentrating on his thoughts.
He knew that the Forbidden Forest was in chaos right now, and he also knew that he would not be able to handle this matter if he was alone.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Can you hear me?” He suddenly opened his mouth to speak even if no one was around.
.....
It wasn’t that he had gone mad that he ended up talking to himself in the dangerous forest, but that he was simply using his telepathic abilities to contact someone who wasn’t in the Forbidden Forest.
He and that person had learned how to do telepathy, and it was nothing new for the two of them to communicate using telepathy.
[“I can hear you, Wu Jinhai. What’s wrong? I thought you were having fun with your little sweetheart and won’t be remembering me anytime soon, but your voice sounds like you’re in a rush right now.”]
Wu Jinhai rolled his golden eyes when he heard the nonsense coming from the person far away from him, but he had to admit that the other person knew him very well even if they could only listen to each other’s voices right now.
“The forest is in chaos now. Someone purposely destroyed the barrier in the core and let go of all the dangerous beasts that should have been trapped within the core, and I couldn’t handle all of them if I was alone here. Someone from the Black Werewolf Clan was even killed, and the situation here is far from good.”
Wu Jinhai could hear the other person gasping in surprise.
[“What? Someone purposely destroyed the barrier and free all the dangerous beasts in the core? And you also said that someone from the Black Werewolf Clan was killed? Was it an important figure from the clan that was killed? Normally, you wouldn’t remember a person who had died if they weren’t important.”]
Others did know him very well, and Wu Jinhai calmly replied, “It was the daughter of the Black Werewolf Clan that was killed. A girl called Shao Meihui.”
[“The girl named Shao Meihui? She is indeed an important figure within the Black Werewolf Clan, so it’s no wonder you remember her, Wu Jinhai. But I didn’t expect that girl to be killed in the forest. She’s quite skilled with her sword, and I can’t imagine what will happen in Dong Lang if that girl is killed during the Beast Hunting Event.”]
Wu Jinhai also couldn’t imagine what would happen in Dong Lang after the people outside the forest learned of the news. However, he knew that this was not the time to think about it, so he spoke once again, “Someone must have bad intentions, and that’s why I need your help.”
The masked man could hear the other person sigh before replying, [“Do you have someone in mind, Wu Jinhai?”]
Someone in mind. It was too difficult for Wu Jinhai to analyze the situation when he still had some matters he had to deal with, and he sighed before replying, “It is someone from the werewolf or the human who wants to start a fire between the two sides, but I still don’t know their identity. We need to think about this matter after leaving the forest.”
This time, Wu Jinhai didn’t get any response from the other person, and he decided to continue, “You just need to infiltrate the Forbidden Forest with a few men to deal with the beasts now. I’m sure that both the humans and the werewolf side have heard of this matter because they put some surveillance devices in this forest, so I believe they will also come to the forest soon, and your focus is only on the beasts that might harm more people.”
Wu Jinhai sounded like he didn’t care about people fighting beasts, but he was still trying to find a solution so there wouldn’t be too many victims in this tragedy. Perhaps he was too lazy to use his own hands to help them, but he still sought help as his face remained indifferent.
[“I see. But, what are you going to do now? I’m sure you don’t want to dirty your hands with the disgusting blood of beasts, so what are you going to do now? And, what about your little sweetheart? Is he with you now?”]
The other person finally gave him a reply, and Wu Jinhai glanced at Bai Chen slightly as he replied, “He’s with me now, and you should stop calling him my little sweetheart. We should just focus on finding the mastermind behind this issue.”
And after he shared his goal with the person who was still outside the forest, he immediately cut off the telepathy line because he didn’t want to hear that person speak anymore.
He knew that the two of them couldn’t keep wasting their time, so they’d better start doing what they were supposed to do instead of continuing to chat via telepathy.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWu Jinhai ignored the screams of the people as well as the growls of the beasts as he continued to carry his feet towards his destination. Bai Chen was still sleeping on his shoulder, and he had no intention of waking the man up for now.
The forest was still dark and spooky, but it wasn’t a big deal for him as he could see things clearly with his pair of golden eyes shining brightly through the holes in his mask.
It wasn’t his first time participating in the Beast Hunting Event, and he could confidently say that he knew every nook and cranny in the forest. That was why he knew very well about his destination now.
And after walking for a while, Wu Jinhai finally arrived at his destination. He could still see the faint shape of the barrier, but he knew that the thin barrier would not be able to withstand the dangerous beasts within the core. Yes, he had arrived at the core of the Forbidden Forest by now.
It was called the core because of its location in the middle of the forest. The Forbidden Forest had the shape of a circle, and its core was right in the center of the circle. That was why it was called the core.
There seemed to be nothing special about the core apart from the existence of the barrier, but the barrier had been destroyed, and the beasts trapped within the barrier for a hundred years were finally able to break out of it and cause trouble.
Wu Jinhai could see the core area as well as the thin barrier, but those two weren’t the only ones he could see when he finally stopped walking near the core.
Bai Chen was still sleeping on his shoulder, and his golden eyes were glaring at the three people standing in front of him as if they were blocking the core from him.
The three men were wearing black clothes, and they all looked at Wu Jinhai with calm expressions as if they had expected that the man would come to them.
The three men were young and looked strong, but Wu Jinhai didn’t look scared as he smirked at them behind his golden mask. He knew that he had to deal with the three men immediately, but first, he carefully placed Bai Chen on the ground before using his power to create a golden shield around the man’s body.
He still remembered how he was quite careless and allowed the man to be stung by a scorpion earlier, and he didn’t want to make the same mistake as he meticulously built a golden shield around Bai Chen’s body.
The shield was semi-transparent and functioned like a barrier used to trap beasts within the core. Any creature from outside the shield wouldn’t be able to touch Bai Chen, and Bai Chen wouldn’t be able to get out of the shield either.
After confirming that Bai Chen would be safe for now, Wu Jinhai once again straightened his body and looked directly at the three people standing a dozen meters in front of him.
“I should have expected it when I saw the three of you before we entered the forest,” Wu Jinhai finally broke the silence. “You three are the guards that Emperor Bai Guowei chose to protect Shao Meihui, right? Why did you break the barrier?”
