Chapter 2034 Scolding
The next day, Elisa woke up early.
Perhaps due to the hot spring visit yesterday, she woke up today feeling refreshed and didn’t feel like
oversleeping.
She glanced at the time and saw it was around seven in the morning. Upon sending a text message in
the group chat, she was met with numerous inmediate responses.
Elisa: Anyone wants to join me for breakfast?
Affirmative replies quickly came flooding in.
Looks like everyone’s up and about. Elisa smirked. Soaking in the hot spring truly works wonders for
reinvigorating oneself.
The group agreed to meet in the lobby downstairs at half past seven.
After freshening up, Elisa made a phone call to Julia, primarily to discuss matters concerning Kaylee,

-Elisa didn’t doubt her. “Maria, is Grandma awake? Could you hand her the phone?”
Maria’s voice didn’t sound too well, as if she was hesitating to say something.
Right then, Julia’s voice sounded from the other end, and in the next second, it seemed like the phone
was snatched away.
“It’s me. What is it?”
Julia’s voice was exceedingly indifferent, almost sounding emotionless. Despite being mentally
prepared. Elisa couldn’t help but feel dejected upon hearing it.
She would rather Julia had simply been ill since everything would return to normal once the latter
recovered.
Noticing the silence on the other end of the line, Julia continued impatiently, “If you’re not going to talk,
I’m hanging up.”
Elisa hurriedly began, “Grandma, it’s me, Elisa.”
There was no response from Julia, as she was likely waiting for Elisa to continue.
Suppressing the feeling of disappointment in her heart, Elisa went on, “Here’s the thing. Didn’t we say
we would return today? I asked Ms. Knapp, and she also wants to stay with us for a few more days, so
we will return slightly later. Also, the environment here is quite nice. If you have time, we could-”
Before Elisa could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Julia.
“Just arrange things as you see fit, but don’t let anyone bully her. I must say, if you’re unwilling to take
her with you, then send her back to me. Don’t think that just because I’m not there, I won’t know how
you’re mistreating her.”
Elisa was somewhat taken aback, both by Julia interrupting her and what the latter had said.

She’s openly backing Kaylee and even making me sound so malicious. But I clearly didn’t do a thing…

She wanted to defend herself, but at this juncture, words seemed somewhat meaningless.
With a cold humph, Julia walked away from the phone.
Maria picked up the phone again and waited until Julia was out of earshot before saying, “Ms. Benett,
when you return, it’s best you bring Mr. Gareth to visit Madam Smith. I feel she has been acting very
strange lately. Not long ago, she even had your room cleared out for Ms. Knapp as if she were
possessed.”
The word “possessed” kept echoing in Elisa’s mind.
Is… this the reason?
She snapped back to reality, comforting Maria, “Don’t worry, Maria. We’ll be back tomorrow.”
On the other end of the line, Maria nodded vigorously. Moreover, Madam Smith is becoming more and
more careless about her health. She used to follow the doctor’s advice meticulously, knowing exactly
what she could and couldn’t eat. She would never touch anything she wasn’t supposed to eat. I’m sure
you know she is not a glutton. But now, she eats without any restraint. It’s truly…”
Elisa and Maria continued their conversation, and the more they talked, the more they felt that the
situation was seriously bizarre.
