Chapter 215 Repaying Him for the Two Decades
Josephine’s pupils contracted as she abruptly tucked her neck and raised her arm in panic, attempting
to shield her face. That dog sank its teeth into her other arm, causing Josephine to gasp as its fangs
pierced through her puffer jacket and embedded themselves in her skin.
However, the ordeal was far from over. While Josephine was busy fending off the attack on her face,
another dog sank its teeth into her leg. Unlike her thick clothing, her pants offered little protection, and
her leg began to bleed immediately upon the dog’s bite. A surge of intense pain shot through
Josephine’s calf; she saw black and almost fainted.
The dogs clung stubbornly to their bites, gripping Josephine’s limbs tightly and pulling with a ferocity
that seemed intent on tearing her apart and devouring her. In the midst of the struggle, Josephine
heard a faint ripping sound as the dogs shredded her puffer jacket. The down feathers burst forth,
swirling through the air. Josephine thought it was snowing.
Ignoring the searing pain coursing through her body, Josephine mustered every ounce of strength to
crawl toward the fence, desperately gripping it and shaking it with all her might. Despite her terror, she
attempted to let out a scream, but her voice failed her. In the absence of any sound escaping her lips,
her fear went unnoticed, leaving her isolated in her anguish, with no one aware of the excruciating pain
she endured.
A dog suddenly attacked from behind, sinking its teeth into her leg and forcefully pulling her backward.
The pain was so intense that Josephine saw black, and she released her grip on the fence. Helplessly,
she was dragged to the ground, her head colliding with the unforgiving surface. A buzzing sound
resonated in her ear, and she temporarily lost consciousness.
Josephine gave up struggling. She couldn’t fathom why Lewis harbored such deep hatred towards her,
and even after their divorce, why he continued to subject her to such torment. Since he wanted her to
die without leaving a trace, she decided to give in to his wishes. Josephine saw it as a way of repaying
him for their two decades together. With her eyes and tears streaming down her cheeks, Josephine
surrendered herself to this grim fate.

As Phineas arrived on the scene, his eyes widened in utter shock, and he felt as if his very soul had
been jolted out of his body. He reared the dogs and knew their behavior. He saw a few dogs had locked
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇttheir jaws onto Josephine, forcefully dragging her across the ground. He immediately shouted a
command in their direction, “Let go!”
The dogs were startled and quickly dispersed, running away in all directions when they heard his voice
and saw him rushing over. Phineas wasted no time and promptly opened the gate, dashing towards
Josephine. However, as he reached her side, the sight that greeted him was nothing short of horrifying.
Her clothing was torn to shreds, barely clinging to her battered body, while the ground was littered with
scattered down feathers. Thankfully, her upper body had fared relatively better due to the protection of
her thick garments, with only minor bite marks and scratches evident. However, her legs bore the brunt
of the attack, both bleeding profusely, staining her jeans crimson. Trailing along the ground were two
long, gruesome
tracks of blood, remnants of her merciless dragging. It was a truly harrowing sight to behold.
Josephine struggled to open her eyes. When she saw Phineas, her tensed nerves finally relaxed. She
felt tiredness sweeping through her body and slowly closed her eyes again.
Phineas dared not delay any longer when he saw the state she was in. He quickly carried her and ran
toward a room in the mansion. Fortunately, there was a doctor on the premises. They also had rabies
vaccine since Phineas frequently got hurt caring for these animals.
Once the doctor arrived, he promptly attended to Josephine’s injuries, beginning by staunching the
bleeding before administering the vital rabies vaccine. Following the vaccination, he diligently cleaned
and disinfected her wounds, carefully stitching them together. The doctor was unfazed by the severity
of her leg injuries. He was used to such scenes and simply thought that she was lucky to be able to
leave that place alive.
Phineas wiped the sweat on his forehead as he watched the doctor stitch up Josephine’s wounds. He
then shifted his gaze to look at Josephine’s frowning face. He quietly slipped out of the room and asked
the two security guards stationed outside, “Did Chairman Alvarez leave?
”
The security guards nodded and said, “He left about ten minutes ago.”
Phineas felt relieved and replied, “Good.”
It was fortunate that Lewis had left, or else Phineas would be done for. Before leaving, Lewis had
asked Phineas if the dogs had been well fed. Phineas immediately understood that he did. not intend to
feed Josephine to the dogs. But those savage creatures were addicted to eating flesh and meat, and
Josephine looked like the perfect prey in her frail and weakened state. Fortunately, he had fed them
earlier; otherwise, nothing would be left of Josephine by now.
As soon as Phineas returned to the room, he received a call from Lewis asking him about Josephine’s
condition. Phineas glanced at Josephine and swallowed anxiously. He forcibly calmed himself and
answered, “Madam is fine. She sustained only minor injuries. I’ve already let her out.”
“She’s hurt?”
Phineas quickly explained, “Oh, it’s just some scratches from the dogs. It’s no big deal. The doctor is
giving her the rabies vaccine now.”
“Phineas,” Lewis suddenly called out his name.
Phineas’ body tensed up instantly, gripped by fear, as he answered, “I’m here, Sir!”
“Are they truly just minor injuries?” Although Phineas could not discern any emotions from Lewis’ voice,
there was an underlying tone of suppression that made Phineas feel pressured.
Nevertheless, he gritted his teeth and replied, “Yes, she sustained only minor injuries. I’ll send you a
picture later.”
“No need. I trust you understand the consequences you would face if you were to lie to me.”
“Yes, I understand!”
Lewis paused for a moment before he added, “Choose a cuter-looking dog for her.”
“Okay.”
“Also, don’t forget the main matter at hand.”
“Duly noted!” After Phineas replied, Lewis hung up.
After the call, Phineas found himself drenched in sweat. He raised a trembling hand and wiped his
forehead. Phineas recomposed himself before returning to the room and asked the doctor, “What’s her
condition? Is it serious?”
“You can’t tell if it’s serious or not? Look at her wounds,” the doctor retorted, directing Phineas’
attention to the freshly stitched wound on Josephine’s calf. The injury was as big as a bowl, with no
intact skin remaining on the wound.
Phineas became increasingly worried. He promised Lewis that the dogs under his care were loyal and
would only act upon commands. Phineas thought that if Lewis found out that Josephine had been
mauled by the dogs right after he left and that he had lied about the extent of her injuries, the
repercussions could be severe, even to the point of his own removal from existence. The thought was

The sky darkened outside, reflecting the mounting tension within the room. The doctor wiped. off the
sweat from his forehead as he let out a sigh of relief and announced, “The stitching is done. Once the
effects of the anesthesia wear off, she should regain consciousness.”
Phineas pulled the doctor out of the room and whispered, “Don’t tell anyone about this.”
The doctor was taken aback upon hearing that. Curious, he asked, “Who is she?”
“You don’t need to know. Just keep this a secret, or else I’ll feed you to the dogs!” Phineas threatened.
His fierce look gave the doctor a shock, prompting the latter to quickly respond, ” Okay, fine. I won’t tell.
I’ll pretend I don’t know anything that happened today.”
“Good, you can leave now.” Phineas dismissed the doctor and summoned two other men.
These two men were in charge of researching the tracking anklet. They had finally developed an item
to help remove Josephine’s tracking anklet from her ankle. Lewis had brought Josephine here not just
to let her play with the dogs. His primary objective was to remove the tracking anklet on Josephine’s
leg.
Both men entered the room, and they asked, “Why remove it now?”
They developed the item long ago, but Phineas told them to wait. Phineas answered, “I was also
waiting for Chairman Alvarez’s orders. Stop dilly-dallying. Remove the tracking anklet quickly.”
“Okay.” They walked to the bed and placed the case down. Retrieving a bottle filled with a white liquid
from the case, they observed the row of bite marks on the tracking anklet as they grasped Josephine’s
ankle. The realization struck the two men almost simultaneously Josephine had indeed experienced a
twisted stroke of fortune. Had it not been for the tracking anklet she wore, her delicate leg, would have
undoubtedly suffered a gruesome fate, torn apart by the savage jaws of the dogs.
One of them carefully poured the white liquid onto the tracking anklet. In a few seconds, the liquid
reacted with the black tracking anklet, and a sizzling sound was heard before the tracking anklet fell
apart. They removed the tracking anklet and placed it in a container before handing it over to Phineas.
Once Phineas had taken possession of the container, he instructed. them to leave.
Josephine woke up in pain around two in the morning. The effects of the anesthesia had worn off. She
felt an intense pain from the burning sensation in her legs. She found herself tormented by a vivid
nightmare, haunted by the image of numerous dogs relentlessly tearing at her. Lewis stood nearby, his
eyes devoid of warmth, observing her agonizing ordeal without an ounce of sympathy. No matter how
she pleaded for mercy, his callous demeanor remained unchanged.
Startled from her unsettling dream, Josephine awoke to an intensified pain coursing through her body.
It was not just her legs that were hurting.
