Chapter 313 Then Let’s Take a Bet
Draco cursed under his breath. Using his momentum, he shoved Lewis aside.
He was strong, indeed; Lewis took a step back.
But there was no way Lewis would let him escape. He seized the back of Draco’s collar.
Many people were running in their direction. Draco seemed to panic. Mustering all the force he had, he
charged at Lewis.
Lewis’ face changed as he crashed into the door with a loud bang.
After breaking free, Draco ignored Lewis and bolted upstairs.
Lewis wanted to go in pursuit but flopped back down limply once he rose, clutching his chest. with a
look of agony.
“Are you alright?” The woman in the red dress held him, looking concerned.
Lewis didn’t reply to her. Clutching his abdomen, he vomited blood.
Upon seeing that, the woman shouted immediately, “Get the doctor, quick!”
Lewis closed his eyes and took a breather. After some time, he pushed the woman aside and chased
after Draco.
The woman was scared and anxious. Just then, Faust arrived. She grabbed him and urgently said,
“The murderer is a plump guy with a scarred face. You have to catch him, hurry!”
Faust frowned and immediately gave chase with his men.
Draco frantically ran back to the fifth floor to their booth. He grabbed a glass and gulped down. its
content without bothering to find out who that belonged to.
Kiran noticed something was off with him and questioned, “What have you been up to?”
Draco wiped his mouth and said huffily, “Fuck. I saw him enter a room and tried to kill him. I almost
did!”
“Almost?” Kiran was solemn. “Does that mean you didn’t finish him off?”
Draco spread his hands. “Who could have guessed he’d use a woman as a shield? If it weren’t for the
other two women yelling, making a ruckus, and getting Faust’s attention, that punk
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtwould have been dead.”
Kiran pinched his brows. “Why didn’t you do as I said?”
Peeved, Draco said, “What’s the big deal? But, I, too, didn’t expect him to react that quickly.”
If it wasn’t for the woman, he could have gotten rid of Lewis silently. No one could have ever
traced it back to him.
In the end, Lewis engaged him in combat, and the others saw his face. He was no doubt going to be
accused of homicide now.
“Who was that woman?”
“I don’t know. Let’s just hope she’s just a nobody.”
Kiran massaged his temple and heaved a long sigh. “Whatever. Get your men ready.”
Draco said, “Don’t worry. We outnumber him. Besides, Faust won’t drive us to a tight spot just because
of a woman.”
Draco and Faust were under the lead of the same superior. Faust was in charge of the lower levels,
while Draco managed the fifth level. They wouldn’t call themselves “friends,” but they were considered
colleagues.
Just then, a bunch of people barged into the entrance of the fifth level and defeated the mercenaries
standing guard before they could even react.
“Can you manage?” Seth glanced at the man beside him.
Lewis’ face was ashen, and blood stained the corners of his mouth. He was obviously in a weak
state.
Lewis replied, “Let’s find her before anything else.”
Seth couldn’t be bothered about him. Leading his subordinates, he stormed up the stairs to the
fifth level.
As soon as he stepped inside the cabin, he was greeted by a swarm of people. Most of them wielded
weapons and stood huddled together.
Seth paused.
He swept his gaze across the space. Clad in a suit, Kiran was standing in the lead beside Draco.
Kiran was staring back at Seth too.
Their gazes met, and awkwardness filled the air.
Some while later, Seth raised his hand to signal his subordinates to put down their weapons. He smiled
and said, “I hope you’ve been well, President Kiran.”
Eyes ablaze, Kiran’s gaze bore into Seth. “Why?”
That was a good question though only Seth knew the meaning behind it.
Why did he betray Kiran and help Lewis instead?
Seth paused. His smile was unwavering as he slowly said, “What other reasons could there be?
There’s only so much a man could ever desire in life. I didn’t want this to happen, but Lewis’
offer was too good to refuse.”
Kiran sniggered. “That’s not what you said when you approached me.”
“People change, you know.”
Kiran asked, “So I guess you’re here for someone?”
“Isn’t that obvious? I’m sure you know how timid that mute is, President Kiran. Yet you
brought her to such a place. She must be terrified, huh?”
Kiran’s lips curved mockingly. “How are you related to that mute?”
“Don’t you know the answer to that?” Seth smiled innocently. “She’s my revered sister-in-
law.”
Kiran didn’t believe a word of that.
“She’s not with me.”
“Hm? Then is it convenient if we searched inside?”
Draco stepped forward and barked, “Who do you think you are? Do you have any idea who’s in charge
here? You can’t get your way just because you insist. I’m afraid you’re in no place for such a request!”
Seth raised an eyebrow and glanced at Draco. “Who is this gentleman I’m speaking to?”
Draco laughed at his question. “It seems like it’s your first time here-you don’t even know who I am! I
advise you to know your place and return to where you came from. This place is not for the likes of you.
If you don’t, don’t blame me for being discourteous.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSeth’s smile turned scornful. “Oh yeah? What will happen if I don’t do as you say?”
At that, tension filled the air as both parties raised their weapons.
“Stop!” Faust and his subordinates finally arrived. He sized up the hostile atmosphere and said sullenly,
“There are many guests on this ship. Gentlemen, let’s all take a seat and talk things out without
causing a hiatus, or else it will be difficult for everyone.”
Draco said, “You’re here in time, Fausty. These men barged in without good reason and claimed they
were looking for someone. Troublemakers, that’s what they are. I deem it appropriate to hurl them over
the ship and into the sea as fish food!”
“I gather you’re not planning on handing her over?” This question was from Lewis, who walked out from
the mob, his eyes glinting frostily. He looked just fine under the dim light.
Faust warned, “Draco, if the person they’re looking for is in your hands, you’d better hand her over.
Don’t stir up trouble for our superior.”
Draco huffily said, “Didn’t I just freaking say I’m holding no one here? Do you trust him or me, Faust?”
3/4
They had reached a stalemate. Naturally, Faust didn’t believe Draco. Why would Lewis confront him if
the person he was looking for wasn’t here?
But he and Draco were on the same boat, so it made less sense for him to side with Lewis. If he did
that, wouldn’t he be known as a traitor if word of that got out?
Nevertheless, it would be messy if a fight broke out.
Faust felt the urge to curse. Who on earth did this dumbass abduct to trigger such hostility?
Lewis took a few more steps forward and stood before Kiran.
Draco noticed his arrogance and his grip on the gun in his pocket tightened.
Kiran reached out and held Draco’s wrist, indicating him not to be rash.
“What do you want?” Lewis spoke first.
Kiran’s gaze lingered on his face. Something seemed to click in his mind, and he said, “You should
know better, Chairman Alvarez.”
Lewis paused. His gaze fell on the gambling table at one side. “Then let’s take a bet.”
“What are the stakes?”
”
“If you win, I’ll give you my shares. If you lose, you’ll give me yours and, of course, Josephine.
