Chapter 81 It’s Only Three Days, She Won’t Die

Josephine got up and looked intensely at Lewis, who had just entered.

Lewis strode over to Josephine. He took off his coat and casually threw it on the sofa.

He raised his fingers, hinting at the bodyguards by the door to leave. He calmly looked at Josephine’s

face. It had the feeling of calm before the storm.

Josephine instinctively stepped backward, and Lewis followed suit, closing in on her until she fell to the

sofa.

He bent down and looked Josephine in the eye. He said, “Do you still remember what I said?”

Josephine clenched her fingers tightly. She looked up at him, and a sense of fear slowly crept up from

the bottom of her heart.

Lewis said, “Didn’t I once say that if you don’t obey me, I’ll break your legs and lock you up?”

Josephine’s pupils dilated in fear. Her gaze was filled with panic, fear, and some pleading. She bit her

lips and shook her head slightly.

Lewis pinched her chin with his fingers, his tone turned gentle on the contrary, “But, how could I bear to

break your legs? What should I do?”

When Lewis was in full rage, Josephine still could resist, but she could only feel fear when he acted

calm.

She was so frightened she trembled uncontrollably. She had the urge to stand up and flee.

Lewis looked at her for a while before suddenly standing up straight. He turned his head a little. “I think

I can only lock you up for now.”

Josephine’s eyes widened. She frantically signed, but Lewis had already turned around with his back

facing her.

“Conrad.”

Conrad was waiting outside. When he heard his name, he quickly ran in.

“Yes, President Alvarez.”

“I’ll let you handle it.”

Josephine went up to tug on Lewis’ sleeve. He turned his head to look at her. With tears in her eyes,

she shook her head and begged not to be locked up.

Lewis shrugged her away and coldly looked at her. “It’s time you learn your lesson.”

Then, he left without looking back.

Josephine stared at him as he walked away, her mouth open in an attempt to make a sound, but it was

pointless. She watched him vanish from her sight.

Then, she looked at Conrad and signed at him, not caring whether he understood her. “Don’t lock me

up.”

Conrad had a conflicted gaze. Although he didn’t understand her sign language, he could sense what

she was trying to convey through her gaze.

He chose to avoid her eyes. “I’m just following orders, Madam. Please don’t make it difficult for me.

Let’s go, please.”

Josephine’s hands hung in midair. She looked at Conrad intensely, with tears dropping down.

her eyes.

She held onto the side of the sofa. The dark environment and the fear it brought appeared in her mind.

Just the thought of it suffocated her.

Lewis knew what she was most afraid of, which was why he would use that to punish her. He knew. All

her pleadings had been in vain.

Conrad said, “Please don’t waste any more time, Madam. If you anger President Alvarez again, the

lawyer will be in trouble too.”

Josephine was a little stunned.

Sam.

Conrad didn’t want to take action, but he could always find her weakness and use it against her. He

knew she wouldn’t want to drag anyone into this, so even if she was reluctant and afraid, she would still

do it.

Josephine froze on the sofa for a moment. She clenched her fists and unclenched them. She shut her

eyes in resignation, choosing to give in.

When she opened her eyes once more, she stood up and headed to the storage room with heavy legs.

She didn’t know when, but the door that was damaged the last time had been repaired. The darkness

of the storage room was like an abyss, waiting for her to jump into it.

She went forward with difficulty. The moment she stepped into the room, fear overwhelmed her. She

trembled so violently that she dared not take another step further. She wanted to turn around and head

out when Conrad shut the door in her face.

The door to the storage room was slammed shut, taking away the last glimpse of light with it.

Josephine’s legs turned to jelly, and she slumped to the floor. The small and cramped storage room

overwhelmed her with fear. She sat on the floor, hugging her knees and closing her eyes, trying to

imagine that she was not in a small, dark, enclosed space.

She muttered some words, silently comforting herself. “Don’t be afraid. There’s nothing to be

afraid of.”

Someone once told her this while hugging her, gently comforting her, saying, “It’s fine, Josie.

Don’t be afraid.”

Josephine curled up in a ball. She said to the imaginary person, “I’m not afraid.”

As long as she kept telling herself that, she wouldn’t be afraid anymore. That was what the person

once told her.

After Lewis left the mansion, he headed directly to the office.

Conrad followed suit and chased after him. They entered the elevator together.

“President Alvarez, Mr. Hall has been taken away. After the audit, he would most likely be sent to

prison.”

Lewis had his hands in his pocket, leaning against the elevator wall, not saying anything.

Conrad paused for a while before continuing, “The flight tickets for the business trip tonight have been

bought. Should I cancel Madam’s?”

Lewis finally had some reaction and looked at Conrad. “Cancel it.”

Conrad nodded. “Alright.” He thought of something and said, after some hesitation. “Should we leave

Madam alone?”

“It’s only three days. She won’t die,” Lewis said, voice cold. Coincidentally, the elevator doors opened,

and he strode out.

Conrad furrowed his brows. Will she be alright not eating and drinking for three days? He had never

tried it before. He had only experienced not eating anything for the whole day due to work, but even

then, he couldn’t endure it, let alone Josephine, and for three days at that.

He sighed but couldn’t do anything about it. Lewis was still angry, and no one could persuade him

otherwise.

Conrad had worked with Lewis for a long time. He understood Lewis’ character quite well. When he

was extremely angry, he would be extremely calm and cool instead.

When Sierra found out Lewis was going on a business trip, she immediately rushed to the office with a

limp, harassing Lewis to take her along.

“Lewis, take me with you. My leg isn’t healed yet, so I can’t do anything. Let me go relax with you.”

Lewis tugged on his tie in annoyance. He stared at her. “I’m going on a business trip, not a holiday.”

“I know. I just want to go with you. You’ll go on your business trip; I’ll go have fun. There is no conflict of

interest,” Sierra said coquettishly while hugging his arm.

Lewis was on the sofa. He swept a glance at Sierra’s injured leg. It was so swollen before that she had

to go to the hospital to get the fluid buildup released. Although it wasn’t that swollen anymore, it still

looked quite red.

He found it a little comical. “Look at the state you’re in, but you still want to have fun? Don’t you care

about your leg?”

Sierra pressed herself on him and smiled. “I just want to be with you. You’ll be gone for three days.

That’s three days I won’t be able to see you.”

Before Lewis could reply, his office door opened, and Sophia entered, her high heels clicking

on the floor.

“President Lewis, we should go.”
