As Lemira heard Evelina's voice, her brows furrowed slightly.
Evelina had dashed under her umbrella, holding her backpack over her head to shield herself from the rain, and flashed an innocent smile, "I lent my umbrella to a friend. Can we walk together?" "No," with that curt reply, Lemira turned and walked away, not giving Evelina a chance to respond.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEvelina stood there in disbelief, quickly getting soaked by the pouring rain. She couldn't believe that Lemira would reject her in front of everyone! Evelina's expression darkened. She had hoped to mend fences with Lemira, especially after noticing the shift in Lucian and Alaric's attitudes.
Feeling threatened, she feared losing her place in the Langston family if Lemira was to be won over again. So, she had thought it best to try and get along with Lemira.
But seeing Lemira's unexpectedly cold rejection, Evelina thought, "Well, then don't blme for not being nice." From inside a luxury car parked by the curb.
Thaddeus observed the scene unfold not far, "Lemon's got quite the temper, huh? Turned her down flat." Orion gazed thoughtfully, "You can't be too saintly in this world." Everything Lemira had gone through was because of Evelina.
Back in the classroom, Lemira hung her umbrella at the back. Soon after, Evelina returned to the classroom drenched, looking utterly miserable.
Upon seeing it, the teacher, concerned, asked, "Evelina, didn't you bring an umbrella? Your clothes are soaked through; you'll catch a cold." Evelina showed her pale face, "I'm fine." Judy immediately complained, "It's all because Lemira left Evelina in the rain while she herself stayed dry under her umbrella. It's just too much." Filled with annoyance and exasperation, Lemira thought to herself, "Not this damn again." But this time, before she could respond, Jessica spoke up first, "I clearly saw Evelina give her umbrella away and then insist on sharing Lemira's. Lemira didn't want to, and what's wrong with that?" Judy retorted, "But in such heavy rain, Lemira could've been more compassionate instead of leaving Eve out in the cold." Jessica hit back, "Evelina could've shared with whoever she lent her umbrella to. Why insist on Lemira? Knowing well Lemira dislikes her, she still provoked, and now plays the victim, claiming it's Lemira who left her alone." Jessica's justifiable speech demonstrated the whole story in a clear and logical manner.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLemira was surprised Jessica had witnessed the whole ordeal and even stood up for her, a first since she rarely had friends.
Judy was left momentarily speechless, "Still, Lemira leaving her behind was wrong." Evelina was surprised someone defended Lemira, given she's usually isolated in class. Evelina then reassured the teacher with an understanding look, "I'm really okay. It's all a misunderstanding." The teacher coughed, dropping the subject, "Alright, let's start the class." Evelina felt sidelined, not expecting the teacher to actually let it go. She thought, "Damn it! This isn't going as planned." After class, Lemira headed to the restroom.
Emerging from a stall, she overheard Judy gossiping with others. Ondel Lemira appeared at the wash basin, the place fell silent.
Judy sneered, "Speople, acting all righteous even when they're m clearly in the wrong. Just because they cfrom money, so pompous!" She even splashed water towards Lemira. Already on edge, Lemira kicked a mop bucket towards her.
Judy was startled to scream, "What are you doing?"
Lemira, looking up, warned with a dangerous calm, "Tryagain, land see if I don't wash out your filthy mouth with that water for good!"
