Chapter 129 Let Me Do It
Baz was too afraid to say anything now.
“You don’t think Maia is beautiful? Choose your words carefully.” Cedric continued to question him with
an intimidating glance.
Baz could only swallow nervously as he thought of what to say. He was beginning to feel bad for
himself for being stuck in such a difficult situation.
Back at the main hall, the 1S11 fashion show had already started as models appeared on the runway
to show off the new season’s pieces.
The socialites seated around the stage started a round of heated discussions as they fought to bid on
the limited fashion pieces shown.
When Maia appeared at the scene in her expensive aqua blue gown, people around her started talking
again.
“Wow, look! Isn’t that the most expensive piece in this year’s 1511 show? She looks so beautiful in it!”
“I knew it looked familiar! This gown was just displayed in the middle of the hall moments ago. It costs a
few million dollars. I would never be able to afford it!”
“I’m pretty sure it’s from Mr. Cedric. I’ve never seen someone so in love with their ex–wife!”
“Ms. Maia, would you like to take a look at our new diamond heels? This was specially designed by our
founder Ms. Eleven. She personally affixed all the diamonds onto the heels, and I think they would go
well with your beautiful gown.”

The breath–taking pair of heels were displayed in the middle of the room. Who would be able to resist
such a beautiful pair of heels? Maia’s gaze was attracted to the pair the moment she laid her eyes on
them.
However, a mother and daughter showed up seconds later and commented, “These heels look good,
my daughter loves them and I think it would suit her well too.”
She turned toward Maia and added, “My apologies, Ms. Maia. My daughter really loves them. They suit
her too, don’t you agree?”
The moment she addressed Maia directly, people around them started gathering and smirked when
they saw her overweight daughter.
“There’s no need to apologize. Still, I was here first.” Maia had no plans on giving the heels up,
especially not after experiencing their rudeness.
experience being married. I’m sure you’re not planning to throw a huge ceremony for your
g gift for my daughter! You’ve already second marriage, right? So why not let us have them?” The
woman smiled while she mocked Maia.
“You’re right. I should probably let your daughter have them. However, even if you have the means to
pay for it, she might not be able to bring them home.” Maia explained as she tugged one of her loose
strains behind her ears while glancing at the diamond heels.
The woman quickly moved forward as Maia stepped aside from the display. “Hurry, try them on!”
“Thanks, mom!”
The assistant came forward and asked, “What’s her shoe size?”
“9.” The moment the woman replied, the crowd around started snickering.
Everyone present for the show knew that Ms. Eleven only ever made a single pair of shoes for each
design, and that specific pair would only be in her size which was a 6. This girl would never be able to
fit in them.
It was obvious that this family did not originate from a prestigious family. They were probably a part of
the nouveau riche who who just bought their way into the 1S11 fashion show as a way to flaunt their
assets.
The assistant smiled apologetically, “I’m sorry, but 6 is the only size we have. This pair of heels was
designed by our founder. It is a limited–edition design so there’s only one pair.” “What? Your event
needs to improve! How could you not have my daughter’s size?”
“We’re so sorry.” The assistant continued to smile apologetically even though she was inwardly cursing
at the woman.
Maia just stood aside and looked at the situation unfolding. All she wanted was to watch if they were
willing to spend a few million dollars just to buy a pair of shoes that didn’t fit.
Minutes later, Maia finally decided that it was enough as she approached the woman and commented
casually, “Marriage is just like a pair of shoes. Only the parties involved would know whether it fits
them. If a marriage is not happy, we could always get a divorce, but I can’t say the same about a pair of
shoes that doesn’t fit.”
Maia’s comment made the woman pale in embarrassment. She quickly dragged her daughter away,
“Let’s go find something else! I’m sure there’s nothing here that we couldn’t afford!”
“Mom, I really love those shoes.”

The crowd also started to disperse as the show was over, musing that this year’s 1511 fashion show
had been unexpectedly exciting.
The assistant quickly turned back to Maia and offered, “Ms. Maia, let me get them for you to try on.”
Maia nodded and thanked him.
After changing her evening gown, her black heels no long suited the outfit she was wearing. Maia
walked toward a nearby sofa and sat down. The assistant took out the heels from a beautiful bag and
sat them carefully on the ground for her.
When the assistant wanted to assist Maia, a voice came from behind him. “Let me do it.”
The assistant immediately got up and moved aside when he saw Cedric.
Maia just stared at the pair. She did not expect the assistant to step aside so soon. He did not even
bother to ask if she was okay with it.
Maia wanted to put her black heels back on but before she could finish, Cedric had grabbed her
slender ankle. He knelt in front of her and placed her foot onto his knee.
“Stop moving about.”
“Let go of me,” Maia warned.
He raised an eyebrow. “How would you be able to put them on if I did that?” Maia rejected him. “I don’t
need your help. The assistant will do it.”
