Baz blocked Maia’s path as he explained himself eagerly, “Ms. Maia, it was my fault for not answering your calls last night. I
admit that I had my own agenda, but Mr. Cedric was not part of it at all. He was in so much pain, how could he possibly tell me
not to answer his call?”
“Okay, I got it. I’m not upset, so don’t worry,” Maia replied,
“I bought breakfast for you after Mr. Cedric told me to. He gave me a list of your favorites and told me to get them as soon as
possible. When I got here, I saw Mr. Nigel provoking Mr. Cedric, It was he who started the fight!
“Mr. Cedric wasn’t planning to wait for Mr. Nigel at all! He just wanted to delivery breakfast to you. Please, don’t be mad at him.”
Maia tightened her grip on the bag of food as she heard Baz’s words. “I understand.”
Baz could not tell if Maia truly believed him or not, so he continued, “Ms. Maia, I can assure you that the food wasn’t drugged. It
had taken me about an hour to buy them, and Mr. Cedric would never do that to you. Mr. Cedric just isn’t good at explaining
himself.”
“Okay.” Maia said a third time. However, this time could barely manage a response as her
voice trembled.
Baz breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, “Thank you for listening to me. I’ll take my leave now. Please enjoy your breakfast,

Maia just nodded.

Buck, who was next to Maia, noticed that her emotions were muddled. He quickly looked for a reason to leave. “Ms. Maia, I’ll
wait for you in the car. You should take your time, get dressed and have breakfast. I’ll see you later.”
Maia just remained standing with her head down. She knew that her face was covered in tears. she walked briskly into the
elevator and went back upstairs.
When she got back into her apartment, she placed the bag on the dining table and opened it. hey were all her favorite foods.

continued to put food into her mouth robotically, she lifted one f her hands to dry the tears on her cheeks.

Maia nodded. Shortly after, Buck turned and walked back to his room on the other side of the corridor.
Hope’s gaze just followed him as she sighed sadly.
Maia glanced at Hope. It was the first time that she had felt such an indescribable connection with her sister. Hope was like her
in the past. They were the troubled sisters as they had such terrible luck with love.
Maia could only shake her head and try to collect her thoughts. However, it was still impossible to hide the gloom engulfing her.
Hope could tell that Maia was not in the mood, so she asked, “Maia, did something happen? You’re not your usual self today.”
Maia quickly regained her composure as she shook her head, “It’s nothing. I’m just tired because I went to bed a little later than
usual.”
“Is that why you were late? You’re just like me when I have work. I usually oversleep too. Wesley always had to look for a female
stylist to wake me up so that I won’t be blacklisted by our sponsors.” Hope hugged Maia’s arm affectionately as they walked side
by side to her office.
Maia could not help but to smile at how much they resembled each other.
‘Did Wesley mention The Horizon Awards to you? You’re one of the nominees for this year’s ›est actress award,” Maia said
Hope nodded. “Yeah, I’ve heard about it. I’ve been nominated for the award for years now. Aside from getting it with my first main
actress role, I’ve always been just one of the ominees. Maybe it’s just my bad luck. I’ve been wanting to reject the invitation for
some ime now. Some of my anti–fans had even made jokes that the reason was because of my ame. That I was ‘hopeless‘ at
getting the best actress award.”
