Chapter 294 You Might Be Acquired
“How dare you say that about me, Maia? Do you think you’re so great just because you’re the CEO of Starlight Entertainment?
Do you think you can monopolize the entertainment industry? Dream on! Mykonos Studio and Starlight Entertainment are evenly
matched.
“If anything, my company has been doing better than yours in recent years. Starlight Entertainment merely started picking up in
the past few months. Anything can happen to it in the future. Someone might just acquire it tomorrow!”
Scarlett composed herself. The arrogance in her tone when she talked about Mykonos Studio was hard to miss. Obviously, she
was a big shot there. It was all but confirmed that she and Victor had an adulterous relationship!
Why would Victor spare the popular celebrities? That was the way it was at his company. If a female celebrity wanted to secure
resources and increase her value in his company, then she would have to sleep with him!
Maia merely grinned. Scarlett was not the first blowhard she had seen in her life, nor would she be the last. She walked toward
Scarlett and stopped right in front of her. Maia put her slender arms on Scarlett’s shoulders and whispered so only both of them
could here what she
said.
“Don’t get too excited. Your company might just end up being acquired. However, it’d be wise to stay low. You know better than
me just the sort of twisted relationship you have with Victor. Who’s going to end up miserably if it ever got out to the public, I
wonder?”
Maia turned around and left with Hope. Scarlett paled. Her legs gave out and she supported herself by grabbing at a table. Her
friends realized it and asked, “What came over you, Scarlett?”
She gritted her teeth and shrugged them off. Then, she looked at Maia and said madly, “Maia! Do you know you’re just a CEO?

What’s so great about you? You freaking divorcee!” With that, Scarlett left the buffet section, looking arrogant as usual. However,
she was beside herself with rage.
Hope saw Scarlett’s expression and the way she left the scene. She said as she handed Maia a plate, “What did you tell Scarlett,
Maia? She looked miserable...”

Maia said calmly, “She was scared of me.”
“You’re truly awesome, Maia! Your tale about the peacock and the turkey was spectacular!” Hope smiled and gave her a
thumbs–up.
Hope shifted her gaze‘ to the food in Maia’s hands and said, “You should eat something, Maia. I ate all of them and this is the
most delicious snack tonight!”

Maia looked at the plate of food in her hands, smiled, and started eating. Hope looked at her, eyes gleaming. “Can you teach me
how to diss people? That way, I can diss the celebrities who pick fights with me.
“I was so mad earlier, but I didn’t know what to say at the moment. I only think of the right things to say after the fight has ended.”
Hope rested her head on her palm, looking troubled. Maia was amused and smiled.
“What’s good around here, ladies?” Aiken, clad in a deep blue suit, stepped foot into the buffet section and smiled at both of
them.
“You’re here too.” Hope had not read tonight’s list of nominees. She thought Aiken would not have time to attend such events.
“It’d be most unusual if I stood this one out. I’m the Best Actor, after all!” Aiken was never shy about complimenting himself. “I
heard the live stream host said that comments started flooding in when I walked on the red carpet earlier. Don’t you think I look
dashing tonight? Do I look like a young man?”
“Is that your way of admitting you’re old?” Maia asked as she popped the last dessert into her.

Hope covered her mouth immediately and whispered, “Cedric is right behind you, Aiken.”
Aiken put both of his hands on his head and chickened out, “Have mercy, Cedric. I was just joking with Maia. I wasn’t trying to
take advantage of her. Mercy, please!”
Hope laughed when she saw how Aiken reacted. He turned around and did not see Cedric. At that moment, he realized Hope
was merely bluffing!
“We worked together on some television drama, Hope. Do you have to tease me this way?” Aiken saw that Hope was smiling
mischievously. “Where did you learn to be this cheeky?”
From what he remembered, Hope was a kind–hearted girl.
“Are you blaming Hope? Here’s something for you to think about. Why do you have to be this flirty?” Maia discarded her plate
and headed to the award–giving ceremony with Hope.
“My contract’s about to end, Maia! Shouldn’t you treat me nicer? I’m invaluable. I can bring in lots of revenue for your company.
That’s not the end of it. I can give you more than that.” Aiken caught up and blocked her. He flashed her a big smile.
“Regardless of how I treat you, you still have to join me.”
He rested his head on his palm, but he looked at her with admiration, “I’m the Best Actor,

Aiken looked at her pitifully, “Could you treat me with some respect, Maia? You could ask me. Pretty please?”
“Sure.” Maia answered decisively and said, “My company’s door is always open for you. You’re welcome anytime. However,
don’t be surprised if it was shut fast because that’d be Jordan’s doing.”
Maia pulled Hope away and headed toward the award–giving ceremony. Hope could no longer hold it in and burst into laughter.
She even turned around and made a funny face at him.
