Chapter 156 Commotion
Truth be told, Emelle truly admired Daphne. Despite their frequent clashes, Daphne always managed to act as if
nothing had happened every tthey met.
But it made sense. After all, without stactics up her sleeve, Daphne wouldn't be able to hold onto William.
“Ms. Hoven, what are you doing here?”
Although Emelie was the first to “greet” her, once Daphne entered, Emelie didn’t even glance at her. She just
kept snacking away.
Daphne wasn’t quite sure what to make of Emelie’s standoffish demeanor, so she tried again.
“It’s almost closing time, and there's hardly anyone around. Ms. Hoven, why are you here so late?”
Emelie stayed silent, so Daphne pressed on, “Are you working around here now? Which company?”
Daphne's persistent questioning revealed her suspicion that Emelie might have ulterior motives, especially with
Cloudex Corporation nearby. She feared Emelie might be there to see William.
Finally, Emelie finished her food and looked at Daphne directly. “You're here for William, right? Why wait? You
might get to see slive commotion.”
Daphne immediately asked, “What commotion?”
Once again, Emelie stayed silent. She drank from her bottle of water.
Clutching her skirt tightly, Daphne couldn’t shake her uneasy feeling. She quickly left the convenience store and
headed straight for Cloudex Corporation.
Emelie had planned this. If Daphne showed up, she would cface to face with William's intimate moments in
his office.

Poor William must've had a headache dealing with both women competing for his attention.
Consider it Emelie’s way of giving him a taste of his own medicine for making her wait for over two hours.
With all the between the three of them, it was only fair for her to settle one score at a time.
Emelie finished her drink, threw away the trash, and left the convenience store.
She called Samuel to give him a quick update on the meeting while walking across the street to hail a cab.
As she waited for a ride, she glanced up and caught sight of William rushing out of Cloudex Corporation. Though
he was too distant for her to read his expression, it appeared he was searching for someone.
Emelie, not really into it, said to Samuel over the phone, “Should we just meet at the airport tomorrow?”
“Since you don’t have a car and it’s inconvenient to hail a cab while lugging your luggage, I'll swing by your
place tomorrow to pick you up,” Samuel offered.
“Okay,” Emelie agreed.
After hanging up, Emelie hailed a cab.
Instead of heading straight to her apartment, Emelie decided to stop at the hospital.
With a business trip planned for tomorrow, she couldn't shake her worries about her mom, Greta.
But knowing that Greta was in good hands with the medical team and caregivers like the nurse and Eliana,
Emelie felt a bit more reassured that everything would be okay.
She decided to hold off on making any decisions about the artificial heart until after her return from the trip.
Whether to go through with it or not, she knew she had to make a decision soon.
The next morning, Emelie went downstairs with her suitcase, and she was surprised to see Samuel's car already
waiting.
“Wow, thinking | might keep you waiting, | cdown 15 minutes early. But you're already here. You weren't
waiting for long, were you?” Emelie asked, taken aback.
Samuel was looking quite handswith his silver-framed glasses. Handing her breakfast, he replied, “I wasn’t
waiting. It’s just my habit to be early.”

Emelie hurried into the VIP lounge, breathless, and took a moment to catch her breath.
Jayden handed her a bottle of mineral water. “Take it easy, Ms. Hoven. Don’t be nervous.”
“Thanks, Mr. Gleamfield,” Emelie replied. “I'm not.”
