Chapter 28: Bloodline
In the streets police officers were moving around patrolling the area searching for traces of monsters that escaped from the spirit world, they were all equipped with a metal rod that could generate electricity, according to the information given to the security departments by the parliament of republic city lightning was a cost-effective way to cause fatal harm to the monsters that had appeared after the crack in the sky incident.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtDamon watched the chaos from the darkness, his red eyes staring intently at anything that was moving, he could feel he was still a little bit threatened by the electric batons wielded by the security agents patrolling, but he wasn’t too worried he was already adapting pretty well to the environment of the plane and the recent and growing connection between the spirit plane and the material plane was speeding up the process, although the only extraordinary particle in this plane was spirit particles and he couldn’t utilize the energy but by virtue of his kin transformed from the aboriginals he could already utilize some of his strengths.
At present he had partially parsed the information of the water bending masters that had been transformed from his blood, so he could already manipulate blood again in this plane.
Most of the kin he had transformed earlier through his body parts while in the veil were water benders or non-benders the other aboriginals who had been unlucky to be involved in the process did not survive the process, he had left the apartments planning on personally transforming others by himself to increase the probability of success but the presence of the patrolling offices made him decide to hold back his plan of transforming more kin, with how tight the patrol was any newly transformed kin that could not control its appetite would be as good as dead plus feeling his own condition and the peculiar nature of the plane he couldn’t control too many kin especially since he needed to have a close link with them in other to properly use his power in the plane.
Feeling his rune and following the connection with the surviving kin that was still hidden in the city, Damon followed the link and absorbed their blood and energy making different individuals in different parts of the city to dry up and turn to ashes.
Felling the abundant blood energy Damon strengthened the only surviving kin who was part of the parliament and strengthened their blood connection by the way which increased his bending.
Damon felt the exponential increase in the range of his blood manipulation and nodded satisfactorily, he then waltzed into a nearby tea shop sending a message to his only surviving kin ordering him to show up for a meeting.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm.....
Zhao in his steam-powered car had just left a parliament meeting about to start his vehicle and leave the venue when he felt a tingling in his body, uncontrollably his eyes turned red and his heart and blood started to heat up and run around crazily through his veins bringing him unimaginable pain that made him paralyzed unable to move or scream out, after what seemed like hours the pain finally receded leaving him with an intense hunger, he quickly rummaged through a secret compartment in the car and brought out a flask that oozed with a bloody smell, tearing away the cover he poured the contents down his throat, the red pungent liquid calmed the almost manic Zhao.
After calming down Zhao felt the increased vitality and strength in his body, he seemed to have somehow become a grandmaster but he was not excited at this discovery instead he was frightened, he felt an urge telling him to go a certain location, Zhao already guessed who it was, it should have been the owner of that finger that had transformed him.
Zhao was one of the first to discover the fragments and although he was terminally ill at the time tortured with pain at all time he resisted the urge to use it immediately and performed experiments, investigating others who had used it before deciding to eat the fragments, as a master water bender and a member of the parliaments privy to various secrets Zhao had been able to forcefully hide the characteristics of a transformed kin(the blood-red eyes and fangs) and used various resources to create a potion made of various human and animal blood along with other rare herbs that could keep him satisfied for a long period of time without looking for fresh blood.
He kept his life regular resisting the instinct imprinted in his blood that longed for the destruction of the wall in order to open the veil but unfortunately somehow one of his men who was a fellow kin member found out when his fellow kin had banded together following the message imprinted in their blood to break the veil Zhao had been blackmailed forcing him to provide them help when he heard they had succeeded and were already dead Zhao was ecstatic he felt no could find out about him being one of them and he could enjoy his newly renew life away from his tortuous sickness, but the phenomenon and the message in his bloody instincts were telling him that the originator of his transformation knew and had a stronghold over himself, he knew there was no point in resisting or his life would be over.
He sighed dejectedly bending the liquid in his body making his face and body making himself look pale, unhealthy and weak as it was during the time he was sick forcefully manipulating his bones and eyelids hiding the kin characteristics and forcefully manipulating his heart making it beat steadily all this done in a matter of seconds.
Normally the process would take several minutes of precise and careful bending but with him becoming a grandmaster he was adept in controlling all parts of his body precisely and accurately without stress although he could perceive he could do more with his body other that quickly disguising Zhao was in no mood to explore his strength, thinking of the information that was just shared in the meeting Zhao felt the future was gloomy especially for someone like him who couldn’t be considered human anymore. With another frustrated sigh, he started his car and drove off heading towards the destination, where he would meet the creature that was at the origin of his bloodline.
