Chapter 333 Asking About Cedrick

The bitterness in Cedrick’s mouth was so thick that he could not even speak. He downed a whole glass of water

before the bitterness subsided.

After taking the medicine, he felt drained. He collapsed against the bed frame. His eyelashes fluttered as his entire

body trembled. He felt weak.

Treyton tucked the quilt around him. He rolled up his own sleeves to show Cedrick the red marks on his

arm.

“Look at this! I suffered on your behalf! My arm is all swollen.”

Then, he remembered that Cedrick’s eyes could not see. So, he grabbed Cedrick’s hand and ran his fingers along

his arm for him to feel the bumps and cuts.

“Feel it! My arm is so swollen! So, please feel sorry for me, and stop causing any more trouble!”

Without any hesitation, Cedrick withdrew his hand swiftly and declared, “I’m not in the habit of touching

men.”

Treyton laughed and countered in a teasing tone, “So, you’re in the habit of touching women?”

“I will not touch any woman other than Gwenny.”

There was no doubt in his voice, and his jaw was stubbornly set. It was a serious proclamation.

Treyton nodded, satisfied with Cedrick’s answer. “I’m glad to hear that. You must remember that Gwendolyn is the

treasure of our family. If you upset her or make her sad in any way, her two other brothers and I will not let you get

away with it!”

Cedrick pursed his lips and smiled at Treyton’s impassioned proclamation,

Any mention of Gwendolyn invoked a great joy in him.

Meanwhile, downstairs, the men from the Federal Bureau of Investigation were halted by the guards outside the

gates of the villa. They were surprised to see Asher appear.

“Why is Mr. Asher here? Where is Mr. Jenson?”

“He is down with flu and fever. I’m taking care of him on behalf of my sister. You can deal with me directly,” replied

Asher with a rather bored expression.

“Uh…”

The men exchanged awkward looks with each other. “Mr. Asher, it has always been Mr. Jenson who makes the

decisions regarding the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Besides, this is a top–secret matter. Just let us come in and

meet Mr. Jenson.”

Asher’s expression remained unchanged. He glanced at the documents in the men’s hands and held out his hand

for them. “Give me those documents. I’ll pass it over to him personally.”

“No. It’s not just about these documents. We must brief Mr. Jenson in person!”

Asher frowned in displeasure.

“There’s no need for you to brief him. He’s perfectly capable of reading the report on his own. I’m not interested in

the affairs of Federal Bureau of Investigation. Don’t worry about me peeking at the documents. Do you doubt me?”

“We’re not doubting you. There’s no way you’ll do such a thing.

Asher did not want to listen to any more excuses or justifications. “Just give me those documents!”

Feeling pressured, the men had no choice but to hand over the documents to Asher.

“Now, get out of here.”

Asher turned around and started walking back toward the villa, but before he had even taken two steps, another

commotion sounded at the gate.

It was Yael, the second son of the Jenson family. He had brought his men with him. Xander, too, had come along.

“What’s up with Cedrick lately? Logan sent a nice invitation card, and yet, he refused to show up. Well, today, I’m

here to invite him in person. If he still refuses me, my father will come personally next time!”

Yael was shouting at the guard, his voice obnoxiously loud.

Asher scowled and headed back toward the gate.

Yael was taken aback when he saw Asher approach. He smiled mischievously and said, “Hey! What is the eldest son

of the Harris family doing at the Jenson residence?”

Asher reined in his anger and replied politely, “It’s been rather cold lately. Cedrick caught the flu and also has a

fever now. Gwenny is rather busy, so I’m here to help her take care of him.”

“Oh, so that’s why.” Yael nodded in understanding.

Xander, who was standing next to Yael, protested in a low voice, “With this weather, who’s not sick now? It’s just a

minor illness. It’s not like he was bedridden! Grandpa just keeps making up excuses to avoid coming despite our

repeated invitations. He’s doing this on purpose!”

“Mr. Asher is here. Don’t speak nonsense!”

Yael waited for Xander to finish speaking. Then, he flashed a fake smile at Asher and replied rather hypocritically,

“Although Cedrick is always hiding from his family, I understand the situation is rather crazy. I’m sorry you got

caught up in this.”

Asher merely stared back at him and made no reply to his statement.

Yael continued, “If Cedrick is truly not that seriously ill, please let us come in. There will be a family luncheon at

noon today at the Jenson residence. As the head of the family, Cedrick should be there.”

After his little speech, Yael turned and winked at the men he had brought with him.

The men moved into formation but were blocked by Harrick Villa’s guard.

Two men tried to force their way into the villa and were electrocuted with a taser.

Asher casually slipped his hands into his pocket and said in a firm voice, “Mr. Yael, what would you do if I refused to

allow you to enter?”

Yael’s face darkened, but before he could speak, Xander blurted out, “Asher, this is the Jenson residence! You are

not family! Who are you to act like this?”

“Yes, it’s true that I’m an outsider.” Asher sneered. “However, Cedrick is engaged to my sister. My soon–to- be

brother–in–law knows that he must prioritize his health. You people, his so–called relatives, only care whether he is

able to walk or not. Such cold–hearted people!”

Yael’s face froze. Just as he was about to defend himself, Asher spoke up again. “You know very well whether or not

Cedrick really wants to see you. Go on, then. I’m sure you can find your way home.”

“Asher, this matter…”

Asher did not want to listen to Yael’s excuses or justifications. It was clearly written on his face that he was not

interested in entertaining them any longer.

He was not angry, merely firm.

Yael did not want to start a feud with the Harris family, so he had no choice but to walk away with his men trailing

after him.

Next, Neville showed up. He flashed his identification card at Asher.

“Mr. Asher, I work for Mr. Jenson. I’m the captain of the seventh team of the xo.com fast updateFederal

Asher inspected his identification card and asked, “What is your purpose here?”

“Sherman has been convicted. I came here to report the matter to Mr. Jenson and to ask him if he needs any help

for the next few days.”

“I see. Since it’s all settled, there’s no need for you to report it personally to Cedrick. I’ll pass along the news to him.

As for the help…”

Asher thought about it. The last time Eloise had thrown a birthday party, he wasn’t in Salinsburgh at that time.

However, he had heard everything that had happened that day.

“Make sure you watch over Sherman. Make sure he feels the full force of the prison!”

“Ah, okay…”

Anxiety pricked at Neville after failing to gain an audience with Cedrick.

When he saw Asher turning away, he called out, “Mr. Asher, please let me see Mr. Jenson. I hear he’s not feeling

well. I can stay and take care of him.”

Asher was not convinced. “He doesn’t need anyone to take care of him. Since you are his subordinate, you should

know your place! Don’t ask too much!”

Asher only trusted his own men. He did not trust Cedrick’s men.

Neville watched Asher disappear into the villa. He sighed and glanced at the balcony on the third floor.

Over in Erihal, Gwendolyn finally woke up and got herself ready a few hours later. Jonah, who had come to pick her

up, was already waiting at the door.

Jonah got out of the car and opened the door for her.

Charles approached her immediately.

When he saw the casual jacket that she had on, his smile faded. “It’s the first time you’re meeting my mother

today, and this is what you’re wearing?”
