Chapter 541 The Same Routine
Without hesitation, his hand shot out to grab Gwendolyn’s left wrist.
With her two hands restrained, the frenzied Gwendolyn started kicking her legs.
Cedrick was forced to move backward. Once he let go of her, he rolled twice across the bed before landing steadily
on the carpet.
While Gwendolyn went to look for more objects to alleviate her emotions, he took the opportunity to dash to the
closet to grab a belt, the moonlight the only light source for him in the dark. Before Gwendolyn could throw
something else onto the ground, he rushed to the other side of the bed and placed the belt in her hand.
Once Gwendolyn got hold of a weapon, the bloodlust in her eyes grew more intense.
“Wait!” Cedrick cried out in a panic,
In the next second, he took off his pajamas and threw them on the bed before standing naked in front of
Gwendolyn. He did not want another set of clothes destroyed again.
“Come, Gwenny. Do it fast so we can go back to sleep.”
Gwendolyn roared as if she had turned into a beast without rationality and sentience.
There was nothing but anger in her eyes-there was no trace of pity for him-as she swung the belt toward him.
Smack!
Every whip she did struck an old wound, but Cedrick endured it with deep breaths and gritted teeth as he covered
his crotch.
Quietly, he counted the attacks, wondering how long more he had to endure them.
The whooshing of the whipping belt was terrifying in the silent night.
The one-sided violence lasted close to an hour.
Eventually, the whipping grew weaker.
When Cedrick lifted his head, he noticed the manic quality in Gwendolyn’s eyes fading away, giving place to
exhaustion.
The second she fell backward, Cedrick shot forward to grab her.
Like the night before, he nimbly placed her back on the bed.
He had been keeping tracking earlier, so he knew she had delivered two hundred and eighteen strikes on him.
Genny’s strong when she’s manic
He inhaled sharply.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIt hurt terribly.
Every inch of his skin was screaming in pain.
Unable to sit, he supported himself with a hand on the edge of the bed while he took calculated breaths. It took him
a long time to recollect himself.
The bedside lamp had been removed, and turning on the ceiling lights would startle Gwendolyn awake, so Cedrick
picked up his pajamas from the bed in the dark and felt his way out of the room.
Still naked, he came to the living room before making his way to the refrigerator for an ice pack. As he held it
against his cheek, he checked the injuries on the rest of his body,
He had twice the amount of injuries than before, and there was no part of his skin that had been spared from
abuse.
Red, blue, and black-he was covered in the signs of torment.
Cedrick stumbled, and he had to keep himself steady with a hand on the refrigerator,
While the assaulter would tire from the act, the receiver would be even more exhausted.
Furthermore, he had not been sleeping well for the past few nights. He was sore and tired.
Joshua had already come up with the right dose of medication to cure her, so Cedrick had to quickly treat himself
before taking Gwendolyn to the lab.
With that thought in mind, he forced himself to snap back to his senses and grabbed the anti- inflammatory cream
Joshua had given him during the day to apply to his wounds.
It was a potent medication. Initially, Cedrick felt a cooling sensation on his skin, but it soon turned into flames from
an inferno, burning his skin. It felt as if his skin was going to fall off.
In fact, it hurt worse than when he was hit. Even Cedrick, a man with a high pain tolerance, was unable to withstand
the agony.
Cold sweat covered his entire body, and the world spun around him. He could barely keep his balance.
To let the wounds heal faster, he took a towel and bit onto it before continuing the application of the cream.
Once he was done with that, he drank a glass of water to calm the stress from the agonizing session. After putting
on his pajamas, he went back upstairs to look for Gwendolyn
His arms were covered with wounds, and when he carried Gwendolyn, her weight pressed against them.
Nevertheless, Cedrick let no pained sound leave his mouth as he silently carried Gwendolyn downstairs. Half an
hour later, he arrived at the lab,
Joshua had received his message a long while ago, so he had rushed back to the lab to work overtime. After
administering intravenous therapy for Gwendolyn, Joshua turned to look at Cedrick with a frown “This is too tiring
for you, Cedrick. Go and rest in the room at the side. This will take at least two and a half hours. I’ll watch over her
for you.”
However, Cedrick continued to hold Gwendolyn’s hand as he stood beside her.
“No, it’s fine. I’ve already woken you up in the middle of the night to work. I can’t possibly ask you to keep an eye
on my wife too. Go ahead and sleep. I’ll wake you when the IV finishes.”
Cedrick’s devotion to his wife reminded Joshua of how Gwendolyn had delivered the serum to the lab in the middle
of the night back then for Cedrick.
“I’m envious of your relationship. If only life was peaceful for you two.
Cedrick tightened his grip on Gwendolyn’s hand. “It will be. These difficult times will pass, and our family will have a
happy ending.
“Well, let me keep you company then. It’s not as if I can sleep anyway.
With a sigh, Joshua dragged a chair over to sit beside Cedrick.
In the next instance, he keenly spotted the abrasion and swelling on Cedrick’s wrist, and he leaned closer to study
it.
“Cedrick, this is pretty bad, and it’s rather obvious.”
Cedrick gave a half-hearted glance at his wrist. “This is nothing. I’ll deal with it later.”
Again, Joshua sighed. He reached out, thinking to pat the back of Cedrick’s hand in consolation, but quickly realized
that there was no part of Cedrick he could touch without hurting the latter.
Hence, his hand was frozen in midair for a whole minute before he awkwardly retracted it.
“Cedrick, it must be hard to apply the medication on your back, right? Sit down. I’ll do it for you.”
Cedrick rejected his offer with a shake of his head. “I’ve already treated it with a spray before coming out. It’s not
affecting me and my life, so I don’t need to use your special cream.”
Joshua stopped trying to persuade him otherwise at his insistence, knowing that nothing he said could change his
mind. Hence, he quietly sat beside Cedrick and waited for Gwendolyn to be done with her intravenous therapy.
Over an hour passed, and Cedrick started flagging. As he supported himself with a hand on the bed, he closed his
eyes to rest.
Worried about him, Joshua said, “Cedrick, if she gets another episode tomorrow, we should sedate her. Don’t be her
punching bag anymore. Look at you. One more beating, and you’re going to be downed.”
Cedrick did not speak as he tried to keep his rapid pained breathing steady.
Joshua went on, “What about this? Put on a set of protective wear tomorrow night. It’s better than letting her hit
you without wearing any protective gear.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmCedrick dismissively answered, “We’ll talk about that tomorrow night. I just want to stay by her side for now.
Then, he asked. “Will the intravenous therapy tonight help a lot with Gwenny’s mania?”
“There’s no way it’ll work so quickly. She’ll need to be treated for a week before there are any visible
improvements,” Joshua responded.
Cedrick was calm, nonetheless. “Okay, as long as this cures her.”
Once Gwendolyn’s intravenous therapy was completed. Cedrick carefully carried her out of the lab with Joshua’s
help.
Not long after, they reached the Jenson residence.
By the time he was walking down the paths in the Jenson residence, it was already half past four in the morning.
He still had over four hours to sleep before it was time for him to wake at nine in the morning. He needed to wake
up at that time so that he could make oatmeal for Gwendolyn based on her required diet.
After the tiring night, Cedrick finally had the time to lie down on his bed. However, he was covered in wounds, so he
did not know if he should lie sprawled on his front or his back.
Sleeping on his sides hurt as well, but he still chose to sleep on his side and have Gwendolyn in his arms.
After closing his eyes, he let himself relax and drift off to the dreamlands.
Perhaps it was because of the intravenous therapy, but when Gwendolyn woke the following afternoon, she was not
as exhausted as she was the day before.
Upon hearing the shuffling noise of footsteps, she propped herself up and leaned back on the headboard.
A minute later, Cedrick, who was wearing a suit and a tie, came into the room with a bowl of oatmeal.
She somberly stared at him. The same thing had happened for the past three days, and something was clearly off.
Still, she concealed her suspicions and said nothing about it.
It was only when Cedrick sat down on the bed did she ask. “What oatmeal is it today?”
Cedrick’s face was pale, but he gently told her, “Shrimp and cheddar oatmeal.”
As she took in his pallor, she calmly asked. “What’s the matter with me recently? Why am I so tired all the time? I
feel a little better today, but I still slept until noon.”
He stirred the oatmeal for a while before blowing on it and answering, “Maybe it’s the change of seasons. It’s
normal that you’re a little sleepier than usual.”
“Is that so?”
She furrowed her brows as she stared at his face. When he brought the spoon over to her lips, she reached out to
grab his wrist. “No need. I’d like to help myself to the food today.”
It was a casual touch, but Cedrick drew his brows together as his hand shuddered.
Instantly noticing his reaction, Gwendolyn asked, “Hubby, what’s the matter? You don’t look well either. Are you
sick!”
