With only a rusty pole to show that he came to the auction, the moment that the first round of items were through, Jake rubbed his hands.
He could not leave here empty handed. He had to try and find something good out of this. And it was more than likely that he would find a good item to use in the second half of the auction.
"This is a wonderful auction, with every item going for sale. But now, the items that we will see here are all vetted by the professionals at the Flying Pavilion, and we will show absolutely no compromise in any way or form. These are the best of the best." the auctioneer announced as she clapped her hands.
The first item was brought in. It was a cage. Inside the cage though, was a young cub of what appeared to be a tiger?
The young cub looked afraid, turning around to see all the bright lights shining on its face. To have a cub here, the Flying Pavilion probably killed its parents, and now, it was here, all alone, up for sale like a slave.
Truly, the realism of this online world was on another level.
"A cub? That can be trained? Interesting. But something like this will just be way too expensive to maintain, and even more expensive to obtain." Jake shook his head.
"This is the cub of the Flaming Wheel Tiger. Once it matures, it will easily enter Tier 5 without a doubt. Now then, this was a cub that the Flying Pavilion lost a lot of men acquiring, so it is priceless, but for this auction, the starting price shall be a thousand gold coins, increments of a hundred gold coins each."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEven though this was by far the most money called out yet, paddles went up without hesitation. Nobles loved having powerful pets, and this one was no different.
What was a thousand gold coins quickly shot up, not to two thousand, not to three thousand, and not even to four thousand, but a whole six thousand gold coins with the bidding still going on fiercely.
The VIPs in the private rooms, the Viscounts and the Marquesses in the back, and some rich Barons in the same rows as Jake all participated.
Everyone just could not let a rare cub like this go. After all, maturity could be hastened by giving it the right resources, and it would be a formidable force by then.
But Jake did not think it worth it. He would rather spend the same resources on a hundred men, as eventually, most of them would get to the fifth tier in power.
Finally, the bidding came to a halt, and the cub was sold to a Duke for the staggering price of seven thousand three hundred gold coins.
Jake sighed. He could have tried and entered the bid, but he would just lose everything he had, and would have nothing to gain. With just six thousand to spare in his wallet, he couldn't afford to splurge it all on something that wouldn't even help him as much as a spell book would.
He waited. This cub was also an indicator that from now on, only good items were going to come out of those doors.
The cage was taken away, and another item quickly replaced it on the stand.
This was another necklace. With a cross this time, it had a purple glow, showing that it was an Epic item.
He looked at it, and realized that this was similar to the ring of luck that he had stored in the safe at his store.
Knowing that he was going to the Colosseum, where he could potentially die, Jake had no intention of losing the only ring of luck that he could get his hands on. So, he had stored it in his store to keep it safe.
And here was an item that was just like that. The Ring of Luck was a special item that didn't have a rank, but this Epic Item did. It was probably not as effective as the Ring of Luck, but if they could be stacked, then Jake could only imagine the loot that he would get in the future.
Rubbing his hands together, he waited for the starting call.
"This is the necklace of a priest in the temple of the God of Luck. Since the temple is failing, the priest decided to sell his necklace to save the temple. The starting price of this divine item is five hundred gold coins, with each increment being fifty gold coins until we reach a thousand."
Luck was a thing for players who gained loot when they killed monsters. But when NPCs killed the monsters, the only loot that they got was the carcass of the monster they killed and nothing more.
So why would these NPCs care about luck, or the necklace blessed by the god of luck? In fact, that was why the temple of the God of Luck was in such a dire state. Not a single NPC supported the God of Luck.
"Is this going to be the first unsold item of this fine morning?" the auctioneer asked, her smile still dazzling.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmJake raised his paddle at this time.
"Five Hundred Coins to the Baron over there. Do I hear five hundred and fifty gold coins?"
"Going once, going twice, and sold!"
Once again, the item that Jake bought had absolutely no suitors, because no one believed that it would be worth anything.
Spending a whole five hundred on an item made Jake's heart ache, but it was all going to be worth it if the stats on this item were true.
