Chapter 222
Elizabeth was calm, though she had to deal with the matter in Isaac's stead since he had not returned
yet.
She reciprocated indifferently, "We can't interfere with whoever the youngsters wanna date. It's the 21st
century. If we force them to marry someone they don't like, they won't be happy. It'll hurt them instead.
Don't you think so, Mr. Aniston?"
Andy was at a loss for words as he looked at Adeline. "Addy, tell us. Were you getting along with
Isaac?"
A glint of surprise flickered in Adeline's eyes, for it was merely a loveless relationship. She wished for it
to be the opposite, yet Isaac only spoke of business with her by giving her only money.
Her eyes wavered as she did not know what to say. Although he was not here with them, she dared not
speak recklessly.
"Dad, this is between me and Isaac. Don't meddle in this." With that being said, she rose to her feet

Adeline could not stretch the lie any further now as even she herself did not know the cause behind the
turn of events that happened yesterday.
Now, she had become the laughing stock in Appleby; everyone was looking at her like a clown.
In spite of the ire, she had no rights to demand a reason from Isaac because it was only a contracted
agreement! She was the one to be blamed for not being able to win his heart.
Watching his daughter leave, Andy breathed a sigh in frustration. Gwen was in a difficult position too,
thinking that her daughter had changed.
Had that not been the case, she would have stood by their side to demand an explanation from the
Arnold Family.
Gwen stood up. "Let's head home first, honey. Addy can settle it."
She then shot a cold glare at Elizabeth upon saying that. Despite her wish to form a bond with the
Arnolds, Isaac's actions had trampled on their pride yesterday. She did not know how to inform
Hendrick of the matter either!
Elizabeth watched them leave as a dark glint flashed across her eyes. She sighed. "Ise, since you've
made up your mind, I'll be rooting for you."
…
Patricia, Isaac, and the boys did not leave the hospital since Sylvie needed to stay in the hospital for
further observation. Thus, Scott and Stellan slept on the extra bed whereas Patricia shared Sylvie's
bed.
It was past 6.00AM when the IV drip finished. The boys slept early and Patricia waited until then before
falling asleep.
As for Isaac, he spent the night on the couch, which was too small for his tall stature. Therefore, he got
through the night with a restless sleep.
It was past 9.00AM when Patricia woke up. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the man
cramming sideways on the couch with his legs folded. She got up from bed lightly to cover a thin
blanket on him.
Looking at his handsome features, she could not help but think of what happened last night. A wave of

Even the way he warmed up her feet in the car made her heart race right now. He really was so great
to me last night.
Furthermore, Patricia heard about his called-off engagement through the entertainment news. She
figured he had left the whole attendance of guests in the engagement ceremony just to locate them.
At the thought of that, her gaze landed upon him deepened.
In the meantime, the man, who was a light sleeper, had woken up when she put a blanket on him.
A tired Isaac intended to have a short lie-down, yet he did not expect her to keep staring at him to the
extent of making him feel uncomfortable. Thus, he sprang up and pulled her onto his lap.
The masculine aura flushed across her face, surprising Patricia so much that her eyes widened a lot.
He wrapped his hands around her slim waist and his voice was gruffy. "Am I that good-looking? Hmm?"
She was stunned momentarily before she shoved him away with red cheeks. "I don't know what you're
talking about, President Arnold."
She attempted to free herself in embarrassment, for she could feel how dangerous the charm of a man
who just awoke from his sleep was.
