"How far!?"
<3 miles away, heading toward this way… fast.>
Since Viktor upgraded his realm, the Djinn's detection range also increased with it. In times like this, an extra mile of detection range meant a lot to them.
The information confirmed that the incoming creatures were not another wave of lemmings. Instead, these unknown creatures had strength similar to the red zombies he previously encountered. The most notable difference between them was that these creatures came in a great number.
Viktor quickly stood up and called the group to escape as fast as possible. The group was surprised and even became a little panicked when they saw Viktor suddenly tense up, but they still rushed to get ready.
He wanted to ask the Djinn about what these abyss creatures were and how they were different compared to mutated creatures, but they currently did not have the time for such a thing.
The Djinn quickly ordered the mutated wolves to gather in front of the town hall while the group put out the fire and packed up as quickly as they could.
However, as soon as they were finally ready and got out of the town hall, Viktor heard a rumbling sound from afar.
It was the sound of the abyss creatures approaching, and from the sound of it, there were lots of them.
And they were coming in fast.
"Can we make it!?" he asked the Djinn, panicked.
<Probably not, these creatures are fast!>
After quickly calculating the risk, Viktor decisively told the group of his decision.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Quick, get back inside!" he hurriedly said to the group, his voice a little loud.
Although they were a little confused by the sudden change of decision, they trusted Viktor's judgment. Without wasting another second standing still, they quickly entered the town hall again. Viktor hurriedly attached the rope to the wolves and told them to run away from the town hall's area before immediately going back inside following the others.
Nervous and tense, Viktor and the others quietly watched through the window as the incoming creatures passed through the street chasing the wolves' snow sleigh.
"The wolves.. what will happen to them?" Eva whispered to Viktor, clearly worried about the wolves' safety.
Viktor only put his index finger in front of his lips, signaling for her not to make any sounds for the time being. After all, he had no information about these abyss creatures; he had to make sure they stayed undetected in case these creatures had a sharp sense of hearing.
At this moment, hundreds and hundreds of little creatures passed through the street in front of the town hall. From where they were, they could see that these furry creatures rapidly rolling on the ground were each about the size of a basketball.
With his enhanced sight, Viktor could see that these abyss creatures' fur was actually very sharp. Not to mention, he could see that under that sharp fur, these creatures also had small, ashy white eyes and a huge mouth with long, sharp teeth angled inward.
Viktor shuddered. If these things were to find them, they would be torn apart within seconds.
It was a terrifying sight to behold, especially when there were hundreds of them rolling together at such speed.
As for the wolves, as much as Viktor would love to keep them, he felt that these wolves would most likely not make it. This was especially the case considering that Viktor attached the sleigh to them, slowing them down and forcing them to go through wider paths.
It was a cruel thing to do, but Viktor needed to make sure that these abyss creatures would go after the wolves. He was willing to do anything as long as it meant his chance of survival would increase.
Viktor made a decisive judgment, and he did not regret it nor did he feel bad about it. After all, when he thought about how it was between the lives of him and his companions or those wolves, he knew that he made the right call.
Even after waiting for a while, the wave of creatures did not show any signs of diminishing. From the looks of it, there were at least a few hundreds, perhaps even almost a thousand of those creatures passing through. Throughout the time they still could see those creatures through the window, the group stayed unmoving, doing their best not to make any sounds to stay undetected.
After a few more minutes, the group felt slightly less tense. Almost all of those creatures were gone.
However, it appears that not all of them had left. From what the Djinn's sensor detected, there were still at least a few dozen critters still moving around the town. Not to mention, with his enhanced sight, Viktor could see a few of them from the corner of the window a distance away.
Those abyss creatures were dissecting the undead corpses that the group has killed today.
Seeing this sight made Viktor wonder if these so-called abyss creatures were lured to this town because of the large number of corpses lying about. If that were truly the case, he should not have stayed and kept moving instead.
Being once again surrounded by danger, Viktor felt a little regretful. He was too arrogant to admit it, but it was stupid of him to hang around in the wilderness like this, especially when he knew from the first day he went out of the bunker that such creatures lurk at night.
Crack!
His thought was suddenly distracted by the sound of the creatures entering the building next door. This caused him to have a dangerous guess.
'They can sense us.'
Viktor racked his brain. How? Through smell? Heat? They definitely did not sense their presence through sounds since they were still staying quiet, even now.
Viktor thought of the best way to escape this mess and whispered to the group, "Prepare yourselves, we're going to need to move fast."
Although he knew that these creatures did not sense them through sounds, he still made sure to keep his voice as small as possible.
He then looked at Eva specifically before saying, "Stay close, don't get left behind."
When the group saw Viktor's serious expression, they were clear about their situation. This time, they were in a much more dangerous situation compared to today's fight against the undead.
"Let's go!"
Viktor led the way, sneaking out in the darkness of the night and quickly through the street. However, it did not take long before they heard rustling sounds coming from behind them.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThey had been discovered!
"Darn it! Double speed!"
"Where are we going, master?" Barry nervously asked while looking at the creatures chasing after them in the distance. Right now, the boy was even shaking a little, afraid that these creatures would catch up to them.
"Just follow me!"
Seeing the dozen abyss creatures rapidly rolling toward them, Torri began taking a few shots with his assault rifle.
Bullets were raining down at those monsters, but Viktor could see that none of them managed to pierce through. At most, some of those bullets only managed to hurt a small part of the rushing creatures.
A few of them even managed to get close to the group. As these creatures jumped at them, their large mouths opened wide, showing their long, sharp teeth.
Splatt! Splatt!
Blood splattered as Viktor instantly split the monster apart with his axe.
"Let's go!"
Boris was having a hard time deflecting the monster with his dagger due to the monster's sharp furry skin. Torri also quickly changed the bullets in his assault rifle into piercing bullets, and fortunately, his shots became effective.
The group was quickly swarmed from multiple sides.
"Woof woof!"
"I know, I know! We're already here!"
After such a relentless struggle, the group finally arrived at one part of the town, in front of a particular large building.
The town bank.
